In Final Fantasy XIV there are over 200 different mounts, and on some of them, you can ride together with your friends. We will tell you which ones they are and how you can obtain them.
Mounts are indispensable in most MMORPGs. They not only make life easier for players but are also often seen as status symbols. In FFXIV, some of them additionally allow you to take your friends along.
You can then ride through the MMORPG world together with your friends, show them new areas, or help with quests. Multiplayer mounts are also great for farming treasure maps.
It works like this: In order for your teammates to ride on your mount, they must first join your party. When they then inspect your character, the option “Tandem Riding” appears. This allows them to mount your mount.
Playable Multiplayer Mounts
The multiplayer mounts in FFXIV fall into three different categories. The first includes those that you can obtain directly in the MMORPG. You do not have to pay additional money or meet any other special requirements to obtain them.
Ikril
- 2 seats
This is how you obtain the mount: Ikril is available as a reward for the achievement “News from Bozja“, which consists of three further achievements:
- News from the Southern Front
- News from the Highlands
- News from Delubrum
They require you to collect all front reports available in the special areas of the Bozja content: Zadnor, the Southern Front, and the “Delubrum Reginae” content. You can check the collected front reports in your game content menu under “Curiosities”.
Once you have collected all achievements, you can find your mount in the achievements menu.
Mechamander
- 2 seats
This is how you obtain the mount: Landerwaffe is one of the largest mounts in the game and is unlocked through a quest. However, you must go farming first to activate the quest.
You need all the mounts from the extreme trials of Shadowbringers. These are:
- Pixie Gwiber from the content “Last Cleansing – Titania”
- Innocence Gwiber from the content “Last Cleansing – Innocence”
- Shadow Gwiber from the content “Last Cleansing – Hades”
- Ruby Gwiber from the content “Ruby Fire – Trauma”
- Light Gwiber from the content “Warriors of Light (extreme)”
- Emerald Gwiber from the content “Emerald Storm – Trauma”
- Diamond Gwiber from the content “Diamond Blitz – Trauma”
All of these contents are designed for level 80 and can be easily farmed at level 90 since the release of Endwalker.
Once you have collected all the mounts, the quest called “Dragon of Fire and Iron” activates in the area “The Fenn”. You can pick it up from the NPC Garlond Model Maker (X: 11.5 / Y: 22.5). Complete it, and Mechamander will belong to you.
Astrope
- 2 seats
This is how you obtain the mount: Astrope is also a mount that is tied to achievements. It is called “Support VI” and to obtain it, you must successfully complete 2,000 random contents for mentors. However, you must become a combat mentor to unlock this random content first.
You must meet the following requirements:
- Successfully completed 1,000 dungeons, raids, or trials.
- Received 1,500 awards for being the most valuable player
- Completed the Role Quest for Defender level 80.
- Completed the Role Quest for Healer level 80.
- Completed the Role Quest for melee or ranged attackers (physical or magic) level 80.
Only afterward can you enter the mentor random contents and start working on the achievement.
Once you have completed all the contents, you can collect your mount in the achievements menu.
Desert Glider
- 4 seats
This is how you obtain the mount: With the help of friends or guild members, this mount can likely be obtained easier than all the others on the list. It is a guaranteed drop from the chest in the content “Edens Promise – Burial (Epic)”.
The fight is designed for level 80. With the release of the Endwalker expansion, the maximum level has been raised to 90, and the player’s gear level has drastically increased. Therefore, the content is no longer as difficult as it used to be and can be farmed comfortably.
Cerberus
- 4 seats
This is how you obtain the mount: Cerberus is available as a reward for completing the content “Delubrum Reginae” on the difficulty “Epic”. It is one of the dungeons in the special content “Bozja Southern Front”, where special rules apply. There are specific armors and commands that can greatly enhance your character that only have an effect within Bozja.
Delubrum Reginae is designed for 24 players, and the epic version is still challenging even after the level increase. You need a reliable group to complete this content.
Once you have defeated the content, you will receive the achievement “Queen of Epic Blades I” and can collect your mount in the achievements menu.
Regalia Type-G
- 4 seats
This is how you obtain the mount: The Regalia is a special case among the obtainable multiplayer mounts. It was introduced to FFXIV in the course of the collaboration with FFXV and is the car of Prince Noctis. Unfortunately, this means that the Regalia is only available during the collaboration event.
The event keeps returning, so new players can also obtain the Regalia, but this happens rather rarely. Consequently, you will have to wait for the event to return if you want to have the cool car.
However, you can prepare in advance. The Regalia Type-G will be available during the event at the Gold Saucer. In the past, it required 200,000 MGP to purchase. This is expected not to change, so you can set aside the necessary “change” for the next event.
Special Mounts
The second category of multiplayer mounts includes fancy steeds that you cannot directly purchase individually, but are also not freely obtainable.
Tandem Chocobo and Amber Chocobo
- Each 2 seats
This is how you obtain the mounts: Both are available through the “Invite a Friend” campaign of FFXIV, which rewards players for recruiting new players (all info on the official page). However, the conditions for both mounts are different:
- The Tandem Chocobo is automatically obtained once the invited player has an active subscription for 90 days.
- The Amber Chocobo requires 8 golden Chocobo feathers. You receive 5 of them when the invited person has an active subscription for 150 days, 210 days, and 270 days. The feathers can be exchanged at any lost property manager in the 3 starting cities.
Ceremonial Chocobo
- 2 seats
This is how you obtain the mount: The fancy Chocobo is given as one of the bonus items for players who want to marry stylishly in FFXIV. You receive the mount if you choose either the gold or platinum plan for the wedding.
- The gold plan costs €14 (€7 per person)
- The platinum plan costs €28 (€14 per person)
You must therefore first find a partner for this mount, plan the wedding, and then follow through with it. The advantage is that after divorce, you can keep all items and do not need a lawyer for asset distribution.
