Although the male cosplayer playing Chai-Nuzz is the Product Manager for Final Fantasy XIV in China, the cosplay was not staged. It was a happy coincidence that one of the fans dressed up as Dulia Chai to match.
Eyewitnesses report that the Product Manager had to change back into his regular clothes for the photos and videos because he was wearing them.

Who are these characters? Chai-Nuzz and Dulia Chai are two NPCs from the latest expansion of FFXIV, Shadowbringers. They are a wealthy couple living in the city of Eulmore in lavish luxury with many others.
At the beginning of the story, they are portrayed as rich snobs who are indifferent to the cruel fate of their former employees and the people outside of Eulmore. However, they both undergo development and become some of the greatest supporters of the player by the end of the addon.
Why are they so popular? The Chais were very well received by the community right after the release of Shadowbringers. Especially Dulia Chai has become a favorite of many players from the community.
In a large thread, fans thanked the developers for not making Dulia Chai a joke character, as is often the case with overweight characters.
