In Final Fantasy XIV, major news about the next expansion is expected: in Las Vegas and in October.
Naoki Yoshida, the mastermind behind Final Fantasy XIV, has said a lot in an interview with a Japanese magazine that one can infer will bring news about 4.0 in October – and that will likely be the new expansion.
The big fan festival for Final Fantasy XIV will take place on October 14 and 15 in Las Vegas. Square Enix considers it important and appropriate to announce the biggest news during the fan festival meetings along with the fans. 3.0 “Heavensward” was also first introduced at a fan festival in 2014.

Major Changes with Patch 3.5 in Final Fantasy XIV
Before 4.0 arrives at some point, the world of Final Fantasy XIV will have already changed significantly. According to Yoshida, players can expect “major changes” with 3.5. The patches 3.4 and 3.5 will mark the beginning of a new story.
Yoshida did not want to reveal anything more about the new expansion: Spoiler alert.
The future of Final Fantasy 14 seems interesting – especially because a possible port of Final Fantasy XIV to the XBox One is still in the works.
