Final Fantasy XIV presents the content of the upcoming update 6.3 in the new trailer. It showcases the new raid, continuation of the story, and additional content. However, according to some players, “the best part” was not shown.
What was shown: In the current producer stream with director Naoki Yoshida, a new trailer for patch 6.3 was presented. Fans got a glimpse of what to expect in the upcoming update.
This includes a new 24-player raid, new story quests, and associated dungeons, along with a boss fight that is still under wraps. The update will be released on January 10, 2023. You can watch the German trailer here:
“No Natural Resources Today”
Reactions: The trailers for new updates of FFXIV are generally received positively by the community. However, there was disappointment regarding the video for patch 6.3, which many pointed out on Twitter.
The goddess Nophica, who appears as one of the bosses in the second part of the 24-player raid “Myths of Eorzea”, is described in the lore of FFXIV as “wealthy.” She is the goddess of fertility and is depicted in the few artworks that exist of her with large breasts (see title image).
Therefore, part of the often very passionate community was curious about how Nophica would look in the raid. After all, it would be the first moving images of the goddess.
But the players were disappointed. Although Nophica was shown multiple times in the trailer, her legendary breasts could not be seen. Either she was facing away from the camera or was obscured by an explosion of battle effects. A heavy blow for the fans of her “natural resources.”
- “I love how the trailer never shows Nophica from the front. They [the developers] know what’s up.” – OnnaJReverT
- “It’s hilariously funny that they are intentionally not showing Nophica from the front.” – TwerpKnight
- “So… I suspect they don’t show a clear view of Nophica from the front because it’s against YouTube’s guidelines. […]” – OldManGarp784
Clearly, the developers knew exactly what they were doing. Even during the interviews leading up to the producer stream, it was assured that Nophica’s appearance would not disappoint fans.
During the stream, Global Community Producer Toshio Murouchi commented that it would be “Not Safe For Work (NSFW)” to show Nophica from the front in the trailer. This means that she looks too sexy to be shown in a trailer that people could see in public places (for example, at work).
In the first part of the 24-player raid, many players fawned over the gods who appeared as bosses. Nald’Thal and Azeyma received particular attention. The second part of the raid will likely evoke similar reactions.
Actually, the update has even more content …
What else will be in the patch: In addition to “Nophica’s natural resources,” the update brings a whole lot of content.
Upcoming content includes:
- Continuation of the main story, with a new story dungeon and a boss fight in normal and extreme
- New upgrades for the Manderville weapons
- Second part of the 24-player raid “Myths of Eorzea” with 4 bosses, new armor sets, and upgrade materials
- Tribe quests of the Loporrits
- New ultimate raid “Omega” for the hardcore community. It will be released 2 weeks after the launch of 6.3, on January 24
- After the break in Shadowbringers, the Deep Dungeon returns in the form of Eureka Orthos, a randomly generated dungeon with many floors.
- Balance adjustments for jobs in PvP and PvE. Especially the Paladin will be heavily adjusted.
- Content for collectors and crafters: New fishing opportunities, a new NPC for request deliveries, new weapons for the classes
- Update for the “Animal Crossing” island with new ranks, animals to catch, plants to grow, and buildings
- Updates for the user interface like a new theme and the display of damage types in combat
- Season 3 for PvP with a new season pass and a new arena for Crystalline Conflict
- More houses on all servers
The main patch will be released on January 10. Several smaller patches will follow over the coming months, delivering additional parts of the content. So not everything will be released at once, but in pieces.
Especially with content such as the Manderville weapons, the tribe of Loporrits, and the Deep Dungeon, fans should expect them at a later time. This type of content has always been released a while after the main patch in the past.
Until the update is released, you can pass the time with events. There are 3 of them in December:
