A Japanese player has set up a special setup for Final Fantasy XIV. He owns 24 active accounts, which he plays at the highest level.
For many of us, gaming is a passion into which we invest a lot of time and money. The Japanese player WinX24 takes his love for the MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV to a new level.
What does WinX24 do? The player with the character name Winxxx Shily is based on the Japanese servers Alexander and Anima. There, he plays like everyone else with his friends and raid members, basically just a normal FFXIV. With the small difference that he uses 24 different accounts.
His accounts do not just sit idle and remain untouched. Each of the characters you see in his videos and on Twitter has at least one class at max level 80 and has accomplished the hardest content in FFXIV: the ultimate battles against Bahamut, Ultima Weapon and Alexander.
This is evident from the special glowing weapons that the characters display beautifully. You only receive them if you master these extremely difficult raids.
It is unclear whether these are really all of WinX24’s characters or if he has more that may be under-leveled and cannot participate in endgame content. Nonetheless, it’s a considerable amount, especially when you consider that he pays the subscription costs for each account.
How does he play so many characters? For the number of accounts, WinX24 has also built a special PC setup. His gaming area consists of a whole series of monitors and PCs:
This setup is also extensively used by him, as can be seen in his videos on YouTube. Although he often plays the characters one after the other, in several videos he uses macros in the game to drag them around in groups and complete various content.
You can see how it all looks in action in one of his videos:
In the video, WinX24 visits the instanced content Eureka Pagos. There, he uses some macros to set most characters to “Follow” so they can follow his main character.
But you can also see that it is not exactly easy and he also wipes in the process. Therefore, he usually plays the many characters individually in his videos. Multi-boxing is simply impossible in the Ultimate fights.
How much does the fun cost? On his Twitter account, WinX24 states that the many subscriptions for the MMORPG cost him “40,000 yen” per month, which is about 318.94€.
But his expenses do not stop there. In his videos, you can see that he also owns various items from the cash shop, such as the Carbuncle mounts. They cost 16.80€ without discount.
Normally, the mount is sent to all characters of a service account after purchase, so it only needs to be bought once. Since, however, the characters of WinX24 are separate service accounts, he had to pay the 16.80€ each time.
His expenses for Final Fantasy XIV will therefore far exceed what the average player spends.
Another gamer who truly embraces his passion is the Pokémon Go grandpa, who plays with over 45 phones.
