Starting Friday, June 28, pre-order customers of Final Fantasy XIV: Shadowbringers can explore the new expansion and its content. Here are all the important details about the new job Dancer, which comes without a class, and how to unlock it.
What is the Dancer? The Dancer is one of the two new jobs that are coming to the MMORPG Final Fantasy 14 with the Shadowbringers expansion. It is a physical ranged DPS, comparable to Bard and Machinist.
While Dancers are considered attackers, they have a strong focus on support and buffing the party. They utilize throwing weapons, such as chakrams.
Where to find the starter quest for the second new job, you can read here: How to unlock the Gunbreaker.
How do I unlock the Dancer? You unlock the new job as follows:
- Quest Name: Invitation to the Dance
- Location: Lower Decks of Limsa Lominsa (X:9.8 / Y:12.0)
- NPC: Excited Citizen
- Requirements: Ownership of the Shadowbringers expansion and at least one melee or magic class at level 60
After that, the job quests will continue up to level 70 and reveal the backstory of the Dancer. We will update the article as soon as there is information on these quests.
What level does the Dancer start at? The Dancer has no class. This means you start directly at level 60 and will immediately receive a job crystal.
How to prepare for the unlock: If you want to play the Dancer as quickly as possible, you should log out at the specified location in Limsa Lominsa before the 24-hour server maintenance.
- The server maintenance begins on June 27 at 11 AM our time
- And is expected to end on June 28 also at 11 AM.

What armor does the Dancer need? The job will share its armor with the other physical ranged DPS. So you can take precautions and get the aiming armor from level 60 to level 70.
However, it can be assumed that the first quest will reward a crate with basic equipment, as was the case with the Red Mage and Samurai in the Stormblood expansion.
