In Final Fantasy XIV you can compose and play your own music with the Bard class with the latest update 4.15. Unfortunately, players do that too. That’s why the cities of Final Fantasy 14 are currently hardly bearable!
Anyone who is a fan of the Asterix comics knows that Bards have a hard time there. The poor singer Troubadix regularly gets beaten up and ends up tied to a tree while the rest of the Gauls celebrate heartily.
If you’ve ever wondered why the Gauls are so mean to their Bard, just stroll around the cities in Final Fantasy 14 for a few minutes. Then you will probably also feel the need to smack a musician over the head with the harp!
Cat music instead of lovely compositions
The new update 4.15 brought the long-awaited “Perform” action for the Bard class into the game, alongside the new MOBA PvP mode Rival Wings. Now these musicians can no longer just buff people and fight with music.
Bards can now compose their own melodies! For that, you get a set of notes that you can then place in your action bar like skills and play in any order.
All this “can” sound good, but most players in Final Fantasy XIV either have no talent for melody and rhythm or are still practicing hard. In any case, Bards are currently everywhere playing as much as they can.
The result is a colossal assault on the eardrums. You can see how bad it can sound in this video from the site Kotaku. Additionally, YouTuber and Final Fantasy expert Charles created a small video showing some wannabe musicians giving it their best. Some sound okay, while others are just playing aimlessly.
Framerates drop due to music overkill!
Even the game itself collapses under the acoustic assault and even the framerates drop significantly!
To legally protect itself from music labels and copyright lawsuits, Square Enix has included a clause in the game stating that players may not play any copyrighted music from third parties in the game. So be careful if you stream and want to showcase your musician skills.
On the other hand, there will certainly soon be real virtuosos who will develop truly cool melodies in the game and can play them at any time via macro. So it remains interesting!
Housing is still a problem in the game. Many players are angry because they are not allowed to have their own house in Final Fantasy XIV.
