With patch 6.25, the new Manderville weapons were introduced to Final Fantasy XIV. We will tell you how to forge these special weapons and what the future holds for the quests.
This is how to unlock the weapon quest: If you are one of those people who are not very interested in side quests, your journey to the weapon quest will be a long one. The prerequisite is completing the Hildibrand quest series.
This is a considerable amount of work that includes over 40 individual quests and several trial battles, and there’s no way around it if you want the new weapons.
The very first starter quest is located in Ul’dah (Naldcrossing, X: 9.8 / Y: 8.6) with the NPC Wymond. You can check your current progress in your archive. However, if you have completed all the Hildi quests, it will be much faster.
This is how you unlock the quest:
- Name of the starter quest: Make a Manderville piece out of it
- Quest NPC: Servant of the Mandervilles
- Location: Radz-at-Han (X: 11.8 / Y: 11.2)
- Requirements: A combat or magic job at level 90. Completion of the previous Hildibrand quests “Copy of a Unique One”.
After that, simply follow the quest instructions to forge the first level of the weapons.
Crafting Manderville Weapons
Before you accept the first quest, pay attention to which job you currently have active. The quest will be based on that. The game will ask you beforehand whether you want to accept the weapon for the currently active job or would prefer to switch first.
What is needed for level 1? Once you have started the quest, you need to bring 3 Manderium meteorite chunks to the NPC Gerolt in Radz-at-Han (X: 12.0 / Y: 7.1) in the first step of “Make a Manderville piece out of it”.
These can be found abundantly at Jubrunnah in Radz-at-Han (X: 12.1 / Y: 10.9), but they cost 500 Allagan stones of astronomy each. If you don’t currently have the required amount in your pocket, you can farm some dailies and dungeons to get them. And that’s it.
After completion, the quest can be repeated if you want to supply your other jobs with Manderville weapons. You will then need another 1,500 stones.
The weapons are dyeable right from the start at the first level and have an item level of 615. They are 5 levels weaker than the currently available Moonlit weapons, but if you have no desire to do raids at all (even in normal mode), they are a solid option.
What do the weapons look like? In the game, there is no way to preview the weapons before crafting them. On reddit, players have therefore come together and collected pictures of the weapons from various classes.
Keep in mind that this is the first level and the weapons will be further upgraded in upcoming patches. Experience shows that their appearance changes drastically in the process. New light effects are added, and the shape may also differ.
You don’t have to worry if you don’t like the current appearance. This is not the final form of the weapons.
What’s next? Further upgrades for Manderville weapons will come with new updates. Over the course of the Endwalker expansion, they will continually be upgraded until they are expected to become the strongest weapons in the game. At least, that has been the case in the past.
When and how this will specifically progress is still unknown. Once more levels are added, we will update this guide.
