In Final Fantasy XIV you can play many different roles. Whether legendary hero or renowned blacksmith, there are numerous roles to take on. Thanks to a new emote, you can now even become a mime. It comes at a price, but fans are happy with it.
What is this emote? The gesture is simply called “Mime” and represents exactly that: a mime artist. Mime is one of the many forms of expression in art. Often, miming is used in group games like charades to describe things without words. Or to make a fool of oneself.
Most of you have probably seen something like this before in a pedestrian zone, a show, or a movie. The performer often pretends to be surrounded by invisible walls or to be holding invisible objects. With the emote, you can now do the same in Final Fantasy XIV.
Thus, FFXIV is essentially expanded with one more job alongside the two already announced new jobs from Endwalker. Here you can see how exactly that looks:
The emote is not cheap, but it is well-received
What does the gesture cost? In the official FFXIV store, the skin costs 7 dollars, which is roughly equivalent to 5 euros. (via store.finalfantasyxiv.com)
In comparison, the price is still in the middle range between the cheapest emotes (1.40 euros) and the most expensive, unique emote Megaflare (9 euros). For some players, the price for an emote may still be a bit steep.
Nevertheless, the reactions to the gesture are positive, and there are numerous comments about the mime emote on reddit.
iggyworldwide wrote in a post: “I have been waiting for this new emote to come!” The post has now received over 5000 upvotes and 169 replies (as of September 22, 12:35, via reddit.com).
Other players are also excited about the emote. southerngamergirl commented: “It’s so silly that I need it.” Many other players express similar sentiments.
However, there is also criticism of the emote’s price, claiming it is too high. Generally, there is criticism of the FFXIV in-game shop, as it is a full-priced game with an additional subscription model.
Ultimately, everyone has to decide for themselves whether it’s worth the money. However, those who have always aspired to a mime career in FFXIV now have their chance. The competition may be quite large, though.
But what do you think of the mime emote? Is it for you? Or do you agree with the critics of the price? Discuss with us in the comments.
If such a career option does not appeal to you, you might want to take a closer look at the Summoner job. It finally received the overhaul it deserves after 8 years.
