The information about Content Patch 4.2 of Final Fantasy XIV is piling up. The update is coming at the end of January and, according to the official promotional page, will also include new mounts and improvements for the composition feature. A fashion critic is also making his way to Eorzea.
New Additions to the Final Fantasy XIV Vehicle Fleet!
Players will receive three new mounts with the launch of Patch 4.2 “Rise of a new Sun”:
- The Wolf Kamuy will traditionally be obtained from the extreme mode of the fight against the new primal Byakko.
- Where to obtain the Urgeif and the Magitek Death Claw is still a mystery.
New Sounds for Bard Compositions
The composition feature introduced in Patch 4.1, which allows bards to reproduce their favorite pieces, will receive a substantial update in 4.2.
Not only is the interface and key mapping being revised, the development team also aims to reduce the delay between input and sound playback.
Additionally, bards will get three additional timbres to experiment with: piano, flute, and stringed instrument.

The saying “Glamour is the true endgame” is just a running gag in the Final Fantasy XIV community, but the development team has decided to address it. With Patch 4.2, they will implement the new mini-game “Fashion Critique” at the Gold Saucer Casino .
The NPC named “Masked Rose” will weekly test whether you meet Eorzea’s fashion standards. Players will need to dress in color and theme to receive a good rating from the Masked Rose.
