The 6.2 update of Final Fantasy XIV goes live on August 23 and brings a lot of new content. Among them are the highly anticipated Island Sanctuary, raids, and other content.
As usual, the 6.2 patch comes with a lot of new content scattered across the historical world of FFXIV.
In this article, you will find a handy overview of all new content that needs to be unlocked beforehand, their locations, and NPCs. These include:
- New main story quests
- Second part of the Pandemonium raid

The Island Sanctuary
What can I expect here? The island is one of the most anticipated pieces of content in the patch and can be freely explored by you. After a short introductory quest, you can gather materials, place buildings, grow vegetables, and catch and breed animals. It is slower, more relaxed content that anyone can engage in at their own pace.
- Starting quest name: Sun, Sand, and Island Shore
- Location: Old Sharlayan (X:11.9 Y:11.0)
- NPC: Merchant of the Prosperity Workshop
- Requirement: The main scenario quest “Endwalker” must be completed.
Continuation of the Main Story
What can I expect? After the grand storyline involving Hydaelyn and Zodiark has concluded, the Warriors of Light, as ordinary travelers, seek new adventures. These lead us to the Thirteenth shard, which has been completely engulfed by darkness, to find the lost sister of the dragon Vrtra.
- Starting quest name: In the Footsteps of Azdaja
- Location: Radz-at-Han (X:4.4 Y:9.8)
- NPC: Varshahn
- Requirement: The main scenario quest “The Duty of the Ruler” must be completed.
The new dungeon “The Black Court of Troia” and the new secret trial will be unlocked during the story. Just follow the quests, and you won’t miss them.
Pandemonium Abyssos
What can I expect here? The Pandemonium raid goes into the second round. Players will delve deeper into the prison alongside Themis and Erichthonios to find out what drove the staff of the facility insane. Four new fights await you, where you can get exchange items for new armor.
- Starting quest name: No Significant Incidents
- Location: Labyrinthos (X:8.6 Y:27.5)
- NPC: Claudien
- Requirement: The quest “At the Heart of the High Watcher” from the Chronicles of the New Era must be completed. Item level of 585.
The epic version of the raid will go live a week later, on August 30. To unlock it, you must complete the normal mode and its quests first. Then you will find the quest for it in Labyrinthos (X:8.4 Y:27.4) from the NPC Nemjiji.
The necessary item levels for the fights are as follows:
- Abyssos – Fifth Circle: Minimum item level 600
- Abyssos – Sixth Circle: Minimum item level 605
- Abyssos – Seventh Circle: Minimum item level 610
- Abyssos – Eighth Circle: Minimum item level 610
Tataru’s Prosperity Workshop
What can I expect here? The Tataru quests continue as she looks for new business partners to build her trading empire. In this small side storyline, you will visit old acquaintances from previous expansions, such as the sky pirates with whom you stormed the Void Ark.
- Starting quest name: Prosperity Above the Clouds
- Location: Old Sharlayan (X:11.8 Y:9.8)
- NPC: Mehdjina
- Requirements: The quests “Prosperity That Connects the World!” (side quest) and “Farewell to the Red Winged” (Chronicles of the New Era) must be completed.
New Trial
What can I expect? The old trial Ultima will be replaced by the battle against Sephirot in patch 6.2. You can receive special tokens each week that you can exchange for cosmetic items.

- Quest NPC: Traveler from Ishgard
