It won’t be long now. The new expansion Dawntrail for Final Fantasy XIV will be released on June 28 (for pre-order customers). The official release will be on July 2. We will tell you what you can do in Eorzea before the release to get a decent XP boost at the start.
This guide shows you how to efficiently prepare for the release of Dawntrail to gain a chunk of XP at the start. Additionally, we will show you how to quickly level up the two new jobs. As Viper and Piktomant, you start at level 80. However, you need level 90 for the new story arc.
Spoiler: Attention! Minor spoilers for the Endwalker expansion. Quest and area names will be mentioned.
These 4 things you can prepare before the release
Side quests from Endwalker
You have a total of 30 slots in your quest log. You can, for example, travel to the Endwalker area Elpis and accept and complete 29 side quests there. Important: Do not hand them in yet!
Because these quests are not bound to your job. You can do these quests with your Ninja, for example, and then hand in the quests with the Piktomant or Viper at the start of Dawntrail. This way, you will get a significant chunk of experience points (XP) right at the beginning starting from level 80.
- Make sure to only complete 29 quests if you want to play one of the two new jobs – because you still need one free slot for your job quest
- With any other character that is already level 90, you can even prepare 30 quests
- At level 90, you will receive about 190,000 experience points per quest, totaling almost 6 million!
Khloe’s Adventure Album (Wondrous Tails)
With Khloe’s Adventure Album, you can gain half a level per week. To do this, you need to travel to Frohehalde and speak to the little Miquo’te Khloe Aliapoh. She will give you an album.
The album shows you 16 contents, which differ from player to player. If you complete the individual tasks, you will receive a stamp for your book. You can collect a maximum of 9 stamps.
- Every Tuesday at 10 AM, there is a reset, and you can get a new album and collect 9 stamps again
- This way, you can prepare one more album before Dawntrail, which you can hand in until July 2
- In total, you can then gain half a level right at the release
Current Agenda (Challenge Log)
The Current Agenda gives you weekly tasks with which you can earn rewards in the form of experience points and Gil. Every Tuesday at 10 AM, the tasks are reset, and you then have a week to fulfill the entries in the agenda.
The last weekly reset before Dawntrail (for pre-order customers) will be on Tuesday, June 25 (10 AM). On that day (after the reset), you can still complete the following tasks in the Battles
tab:
- Run Duty Roulette 2 times
- Run Dungeons 2 times (not via Duty Roulette)
- Keep in mind: On Wednesday morning, the servers will be down – from June 26 at 11 AM until approximately June 28 at 11 AM
So, you will only need to run one dungeon via Duty Roulette on the release day to complete your Challenge Log and receive the XP.
The Beast Tribes
From level 80 to level 90, you can do the beast tribe quests of the elephant-like Arkasodara, which you can find in Thavnair (Yedlihmad). There, you will receive 3 daily quests that grant substantial XP.
- You can already do these quests and hand them in directly on release day. After the daily reset on release day (5 PM), you can take them back and complete them.
- Warning: These quests are not transferable to other jobs. You can only hand them in with the job you accepted the quests with.
- For the Piktomant and Viper, you cannot prepare the quests, but can only accept and complete them on the release of Dawntrail.
At level 80, you can also do the beast tribe quests of the Pixies in Il Mheg. You can therefore complete the daily quests of the Pixies and the Arkasodara with the Viper or Piktomant on release day.
How to quickly level the Piktomant and Viper to level 90
With the two new jobs, you start at level 80. To quickly reach level 90 for the story, we recommend the following options in addition to your job quest:
Spam dungeons
Together with the side quests from Endwalker (e.g., Elpis) and the beast tribe quests (Pixies and Arkasodara), you will reach level 81, making you ready for the first dungeon of Endwalker.
If you know a healer or tank, kindly ask them to run dungeons with you. Experience shows that the dungeon wait time for DPS could be high, as 2 new damage dealers are starting with Dawntrail. However, this method will get you to level 90 the fastest.
- With this method, you can use your Khloe albums to skip levels in between
- Because running dungeons is most efficient at levels 81, 83, 85, 87, and 89
Bozjan Southern Front
You can also go to Bozja and do FATEs, which many players did on the launch day of Endwalker to level their Sage or Reaper. To do this, you must go to the Doman Enclave and from there take the Aetheryte to Gangos.
Duty Support System
Would you prefer to do everything completely solo? Then you can also complete dungeons with NPCs. However, the dungeons will take significantly longer as NPCs cannot deal area damage (AoE) – except for Urianger as an Astrologian. However, you won’t have annoying wait times.
In Final Fantasy XIV, there are also certain items that give you more experience points. As a pre-order customer, you will receive earrings that provide a 30% bonus to combat experience until level 90.
Always carry something to eat with you, as even a cooked egg
