In the fantasy MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV, the New Year is celebrated with the Monkey theme.
Starting at 4:00 PM on New Year’s Eve, December 31, the “Heavens’ Turn” event begins in Final Fantasy XIV. The zodiac sign changes. 2016 is the “Year of the Monkey” in Japan – this also affects the MMO from Square Enix. The “Heavens’ Turn” event runs until January 14.
The festivities start in Old Gridania, with the NPC Monkey Minister. Rewards include the three helmets “See Nothing”, “Hear Nothing”, and “Speak Nothing”, along with an orange basket and a Paissa doll as table decoration.
The events in FF14 are handing over the calendar page: The Christmas event is still running until December 31.

For those who want to celebrate Final Fantasy live in 2016, the North America festival takes place in October in LA, and there’s a fan festival in Tokyo for Christmas. Only in February 2017 will everything revolve around the Final Fantasy MMO in Germany, in Frankfurt, during a two-day event. Who knows what developments we will experience by then.
