The Japanese player koorimizu mochi has recreated the raid boss Alexander Prime from Final Fantasy XIV in all its glory in Minecraft. The massive construction took about 100 hours. Koorimizu has also recreated other opponents from the MMORPG in Minecraft.
About this boss: Alexander is the large 8-man raid of the Heavensward expansion, whose story revolves around the eponymous Primals. The gigantic mechanical beast rises from the lake in the Dravanian Hinterlands.
Throughout the story, players learn that Alexander was created many centuries ago and has the power to control time. However, the existence of the Primal threatens all life on the planet, as it requires enormous amounts of the life energy Aether to use its power. Therefore, players confront Alexander in the final boss fight of the raid and defeat him.
This is what Alexander looks like in Minecraft: Like many other boss fights in FFXIV, the battle against Alexander is also spectacularly staged, which is why it was celebrated by many upon release. One fan has now set up a monument to the massive Primal in Minecraft.
YouTube user koorimizu mochi invested about 100 hours in building Alexander Prime in Minecraft, and the result is definitely impressive:
Accompanied by the iconic theme “Rise”, which plays during the fight, the user shows in his video his creation from various perspectives. Alexander Prime stands there with wings in the fully reconstructed arena complete with gears in the background, as if waiting for players to challenge him.
In his blog on the Japanese site Nicovideo (via ch.nicovideo.jp), koorimizu documented the construction process. The massive project started back in 2019 after he completed another FFXIV foe. He began with the lower part of Alexander’s torso and worked his way up. It was not easy, as the boss is heavily ornate and decorated.
To make Alexander’s arms rotate just like the real raid boss, koorimizu used the “MineFerrisWheel” mod. The entire construction was so demanding that it dropped the game’s FPS down to 10.
These bosses are also available: However, Alexander himself is not the only boss that koorimizu has recreated in Minecraft and uploaded to his YouTube channel. The famous Manipulator, which made life difficult for Raiders in Heavensward, also has its own version in Minecraft.
In the corresponding YouTube video, koorimizu recreated the opening of the fight that players see when they first enter the raid arena, accompanied by the boss theme “Metal”.
This boss also has rotating elements and is even accompanied by drones that appear during the fight and force players to perform certain mechanics.
Another project of his is the opponent Arrhidaeus (via Twitter), who, while not a standalone boss, has been impressively recreated. Players who have defeated Alexander Prime in epic mode can even have this foe as a mount.
What do you think of the FFXIV bosses in Minecraft? Cool thing or not very impressive? Would you perhaps prefer to see other opponents from the MMORPG recreated? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
