The release of Endwalker has been postponed by several weeks. Now the developers have stated their decision. Especially in view of the current player numbers, the developers wanted to make no compromises.
Why is the release being postponed? The team from Final Fantasy XIV announced today in an official post that they will postpone the release date of the addon “Endwalker” (via finalfantasyxiv.com). This was explained by Naoki Yoshida, Producer & Director of Final Fantasy XIV. In the post, Yoshida once again apologized to the users.
The original release date was planned for Tuesday, November 23, 2021, but I have decided to postpone the release by two weeks. Therefore, the expansion pack will now be released on Tuesday, December 7, 2021.
When will Final Fantasy XVI: Endwalker be released? The release will indeed be postponed by a good 2 weeks. The new dates for the release of Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker are now as follows:
- Official release: Tuesday, December 7, 2021
- Start of early access: Friday, December 3, 2021
When will the first updates be released? Here, too, the schedule is slightly postponed. The new dates for updates 6.01 and 6.05 are now:
- Patch 6.01 Planned release: Tuesday, December 21, 2021
- Patch 6.05 Planned release: Tuesday, January 4, 2022
A release would have caused chaos for many players
What would have been the problem with the release? Due to the high development pace, especially the stability of the game would have suffered, and the team did not want to take that risk. Yoshida explains:
Since we also expect a significant overload of all game worlds, I didn’t think it would be right to release the expansion without sufficient “stability” in this regard.
As the new addon is very complex and extensive, they needed significantly more time for quality assurance than originally planned.
