Dawntrail – General Information
When will Dawntrail be released?
Final Fantasy XIV Dawntrail will be released on July 2, 2024. Those who pre-order the expansion can start early access on June 28, 2024.
On which platforms will Dawntrail be released?
Dawntrail will be released for PC, PC via Steam, Mac, PS4, and PS5. As the first expansion, it will also launch on Xbox.
What is the age rating of Dawntrail?
No age rating is known yet. The general USK of Final Fantasy XIV is from 12.
What happens after the release?
Dawntrail will presumably receive fresh content patches every four months from 7.1 to 7.55 after the release of the base expansion 7.0. So far, Square Enix has supported their expansions for about 2 years on average.
In fact, a 10-year plan is in the works with the developers, which is expected to include several expansions.
Dawntrail – What content can you expect?
What does Dawntrail offer? With Dawntrail, Final Fantasy XIV will receive a completely new story. In addition, numerous new features will be introduced, including:
- An increase of the level cap from 90 to 100
- The new continent Tural, also called
The New World
. You can expect at least two new areas – Urqopacha and Yak T’el. - Two new jobs – a melee DPS and a magical ranged DPS. In the meantime, we know that one class will be named Viper and can wear equipment from the Ninja.
- A new lifestyle content, similar to the island from Endwalker
- New dungeons and raids, including the alliance raid Echoes of Vana’diel
- New armor and recipes
- An update to the Trust system
- A major graphics update
In total, the content of the new expansion is at least as large as in Endwalker.
These new contents are offered by Dawntrail
These are new areas
With Dawntrail, we go to a completely new continent, which centers around the capital Tuliyollal. Visually, the new region seems to be inspired by Mesoamerican and Indonesian culture.
Tuliyollal is described as the sea of the federal nation that governs Tural
and is located in the north of the country. The ruler of the nation is Gulool Ja Ja, a two-headed Mamool Ja. The city values a life in nature and is therefore not very industrialized.
Urqopacha is a very mountainous region of Tural. It is home to peoples that are both very large and unusually small by nature
. Their settlements are visible throughout the mountains of the region.
The presentation states: More than a thousand years ago, long before Tuliyollal emerged, Urqopacha was the proud heart of the giant Empire that stretched across all of Yok Tural. While their descendants continue to live in the region, only ruins remain of the glorious days of the Empire.
The third area of the expansion is called Yak Tel and is a forest region. A slide in the presentation states: The foliage is so dense that the forest floor receives little sunlight. Here are the main settlements of Turals Hrothgar and Mamool Ja, and there are breathtaking cenotes where azure-blue ponds and springs are found.
What do we know about the instances?
With the expansion, there will be all sorts of instances:
- New dungeons
- New 8-player raids
- New alliance raids
- New variant dungeon
- New ultimate raid
- New trials
- New plans for deep dungeons
What do we know about the jobs?
With Dawntrail, there will be two new jobs: The Viper and the Piktomant. Additionally, there will also be a new limited job like the Blue Mage, the Beastmaster, later on.

What else does Dawntrail bring?
All sorts of little things, including:
- You can now dye equipment parts in two colors
- Glasses and headpieces can now be worn simultaneously
- The limit of furniture placements will be increased
- There is a new strategy board with which you can better coordinate positions for battles
Graphics Update
What is behind the graphics update? With the new expansion, there will also be a major graphics update. The focus is on higher resolutions of textures and shadows, better lighting, better weather effects, and enhanced character models.
First, the adjustments will be made for the new areas from patch 7.0. Gradually, the old zones will be updated as well.

This is the story of Dawntrail
In terms of content, the new expansion should represent a kind of “vacation” after the events of Endwalker. Yoshida explains it like this: “You have just not only saved all of Hydaelyn, but in a way, the entire universe. So we thought we’d give you a little break.”
It is primarily about exploring the new continent of Tural, which is supposed to be very diverse. We land there because a visitor from Tural comes to us to help him find the new ruler of the continent. To this end, Gulool Ja Ja is holding a kind of competition.
