Final Fantasy XIV received a boost of new housing plots with Patch 4.1 “The Legend Returns”. Unfortunately, many players were left empty-handed and expressed their frustration loudly. Chief Developer Naoki Yoshida apologized for this and promised improvements in the next patch.
The major content patch 4.1 “The Legend Returns” for Final Fantasy XIV was supposed to bring more housing plots in Shirogane, alongside a raid and more story. But the 720 new housing spaces were gone in just a few minutes. Many players couldn’t even log in to the game in time for the housing hunt because they were stuck in queues.
This caused a lot of anger. Many players demanded solutions for the scarce housing market in the forum and on Reddit, threatening to cancel their subscriptions!
Naoki Yoshida promises a solution in Update 4.2
The entire mess was not ignored by developer Square Enix. Rather, they made the housing issue a top priority, and Chief Developer Naoki Yoshida himself wrote an apology for the housing fail in the official forum.
There, Yoshida formally apologized for the created trouble. They apparently did not expect such a surge of housing moves to Shirogane. Additionally, a bug prevented a planned restriction function from triggering with so many housing moves. However, there is already a hotfix available for this.
But this does not solve the problem of the limited housing market. Therefore, Square Enix plans to create new residential districts in all four residential areas in the next update 4.2. To optimally plan this, they want to rely on collected fan feedback.
Maybe there will finally be a fair housing market in the game. So far, the housing situation in Final Fantasy XIV has been worse than in major cities like Munich or Cologne.
