The companion app is one of the features that players have been waiting for in Final Fantasy XIV for a long time. It is set to be released during the patch series 4.3x.
Now, director and producer Naoki Yoshida has revealed new details about the app in the producer’s letter.
For Android and iOS
The app will be available for Android and iOS systems. Players can conveniently download and use it from the app and Google stores.

For login, the active Square Enix account will be used, and players will be able to choose a character at the beginning that they want to manage with the app.
Player accounts that log into the app will also save an additional teleport as a favorite in FFXIV, which they can use for less Gil.
The app will primarily allow you to access various functions in the game, such as group or private chat, or access to your inventory and arsenal.
Premium version offers more benefits
However, not all features of the app are free.
Players can choose between two versions of the app: the free version and the premium version, which will cost an additional 500 yen per month. This is approximately 3.5€.

The following features are free and included in both versions of the app:
- Market board inspection
- Buying and selling items on the market board
- Management of inventory and arsenal
- Group and private chat with other players
- Event and raid organization through the event planner
The following features are only included in the premium version:
- The size of the Chocobo saddlebag will be doubled.
- The maximum number of retainers that can be hired will increase to 10.
- Management of Chocobo saddlebags and retainer inventories. This also includes the transfer of items from one retainer directly to another. A feature that does not exist in the game.
Additionally, the app will feature a login bonus system and apparently also its own micro-currency.
In-app currency in addition to the subscription?
There will be two types of currency: Kupo Nuts and Moogle Coins.
Per login, you receive one Kupo Nut daily, and with a premium account, it’s two.

If you give a Kupo Nut to a Moogle in the app, it will buy a desired item from the market board for the user.
A coin, on the other hand, will prompt the Moogle to sell new items on the market and revise the prices of ongoing sales.

It appears that the number of interactions with the market board that you can perform through the app is limited to the number of nuts and coins.
If you run out of them, you will have to wait for them to be replenished through the login bonus or buy them directly in the app’s cash shop.

Yoshida stated that just before the launch of the app, a special page will go live explaining the exact functionality of the app. So it remains to be seen whether this limitation will actually be implemented as described here.
The app for Final Fantasy is still in development, as the Android version requires a lot of debugging.
