PSO2 and FFXIV are working together to delight fans with some references from each other’s games. We have the details.
If two MMORPGs really, really love each other…
Many games initiate so-called cross-promotions with each other, offering a little mutual recognition and, of course, generating quite a bit of customer traffic. In Japan, we are now seeing a rather unusual collaboration, as the developers of Final Fantasy XIV and Phantasy Star Online 2 (whether this will ever appear here – who knows) are putting their heads together to work on a small collaboration.
The infamous boss Odin from the Final Fantasy franchise makes an appearance in the world of Phantasy Star Online, offering players an exciting boss fight – according to the video, also with an “Instant Kill” ability, as Odin had in many installments of the series. Players can earn various costumes of the Miqo’te.
At least for Phantasy Star Online 2, such things are more or less traditional; earlier, there were similar events with Tales of Zestiria or Valkyria Chronicles.
What kind of promotion they intend to offer in return in Final Fantasy XIV, and whether this will also come to Europe, is not yet known. The event is scheduled for the upcoming summer.
