It’s almost exactly 10 years since Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn was released on PC and PlayStation 3. To this day, the game is still celebrating its successes. Now the successful MMORPG from Square Enix is finally coming to Xbox Series X/S.
What was announced? Yesterday, on July 28, 2023, the FFXIV Fan Fest took place again. Alongside Dawntrail, the next expansion for Final Fantasy 14, a new console version of the MMORPG was also announced. Head of Xbox Phil Spencer even took the stage with Yoshi-P. The former announced an Xbox version back in 2019.
When will the Xbox version be released? The version for Xbox Series S/X is set to be released in Spring 2024. An open beta test is planned to take place with Patch 6.5 in September this year. The character and progress made in the game are also expected to carry over to the full Xbox version in Spring.
Whether it’s still worth getting into the game can be seen here:

What other information is available about the Xbox version? Some information about the technology of the new version has also been revealed. The Xbox version is expected to offer 4K support and faster loading times. Additionally, Xbox players will be able to play the new expansion directly in the summer. As usual, crossplay between all versions is also expected to be possible.

It’s also interesting to note the announcement that Xbox and Square Enix want to work closely together on future games. Ironically, the latest installment of the JRPG series Final Fantasy 16 was released exclusively on PlayStation.
But even the creator of Final Fantasy, Hironobu Sakaguchi, seems to be active in Final Fantasy 14 and cheers on other players on YouTube:
