The first FIFA 23 update has been released. However, the patch notes are not aimed at gameplay but are supposed to resolve PC issues.
What kind of update is this? Title Update 1 for FIFA 23 is now available for the PC version of FIFA 23 – via Origin, the EA App, Steam, and the Epic Games Store.
Players on PC can access the update now.
What about the consoles? Typically, updates for FIFA are released first for PC before they land on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
In this case, it is expected that the patch remains PC-exclusive in this form. It primarily addresses issues that complicated the release of FIFA 23 on PC.

What does the FIFA 23 patch bring? In the patch notes (via EASF Tracker), EA Sports addresses several error messages that PC players have encountered since the launch of FIFA 23. These include:
- “Failure to update process”
- “Can’t start system service”
- “The application has encountered an unrecoverable error”
These error messages are now said to be resolved. Additionally, another issue has been fixed:
- “A stability issue has been resolved that could occur when a device with force-feedback was connected to the PC while the title was being played.”
Such devices can be controller with rumble functions, for example. Many players primarily use controllers for FIFA, and there have been complaints about stability issues – it is possible that the patch helps in that regard.
Are all issues resolved with this? That is still uncertain, but for example, the “anticheat error,” which hindered many players from starting the game, is only briefly mentioned in the patch notes.
There, a help article is linked that collects workarounds for some of the error messages. You can find the link here (via EA Help). It also points out that you should reinstall EA Anticheat or run the EA App or Origin “as Administrator” by selecting the corresponding option via right-click on the app.
Under Windows 11, you should also use “Secure Boot” to start FIFA 23.
What about gameplay updates? The first Title Update for FIFA 23 currently lacks any updates on gameplay. It is assumed that sooner or later, gameplay patches will also be released – at least that has been the case in previous years.
For now, gameplay remains at its known state.
