FIFA 23 is not out yet, but you can already earn some rewards in the web app. However, there is a significant change with some popular SBCs.
These are the SBCs in question: In “Squad Building Challenges”, you exchange a team of players that must meet certain requirements for a reward. These can be packs, for example.
If you check the FIFA 23 web app under the “Advanced” tab in the Squad Building Challenges, you will find three sets of complicated SBCs:
- The Hybrid Leagues
- The Hybrid Nations
- The League/Nation Hybrid Challenge
All three sets have always been present in FIFA in previous years and have always been very popular, as you could earn some strong rewards here.
The good packs from the challenges always gave hope for top players for your own team, at the very least for a decent profit on the transfer market when selling the rest of the players from the packs.
However, players will have to say goodbye to the latter in FIFA 23: The rewards from the “advanced” SBCs are untradeable this time – and therefore useless on the transfer market.
Popular Starter SBCs yield better packs, but you can’t sell anything from them
What does untradeable mean? If something is “untradeable” in FIFA, you cannot sell it on the transfer market. An untradeable player is essentially useless if you actually want coins.
These players can still be used in your own team or in SBCs, but they must either fit directly into your own team or into the corresponding SBCs. However, that is not so easy considering the new chemistry system in FIFA 23.
What kind of packs do the SBCs bring? The packs you get from the challenges have been improved this year. For example, completing the full groups provides a Jumbo Rare Players Pack for both Hybrid Leagues and Hybrid Nations instead of a Rare Mega Pack like last year. These packs are worth about twice as much. There are also better packs in the partial challenges than last year.
The chance of pulling something good has therefore increased. But you definitely can’t sell it.
Getting started in FIFA 23 may pose a relatively high hurdle regarding collecting coins. The SBCs have always been a good place to build up a coin cushion to form good starter teams. At the same time, this could also mean that many players won’t have as many coins at the beginning – and thus fewer over-teams running around at the start.
It remains to be seen how other SBCs that will come into the game over time will look. In the past, more and more SBC rewards have become “untradeable”.
