In FIFA 23, some players are wondering: Some of their stars look completely different than usual. What is going on?
In FIFA 23, it may happen that you suddenly find players in your teams – or the opponent’s – who look quite different from their real-life counterparts.
One such example was just shared by Reddit user “OhTommyBoy”. He posted a picture of the Brazilian player Antony in FIFA 23, which really did not look like the usual Antony anymore.
“I was disappointed that Antony didn’t get a face scan, but now he looks like this? What?”, writes the puzzled player (via reddit).
It’s just a phase
Antony is just one of several players who currently have a hairless and eyebrowless face in Ultimate Team. Here, however, it quickly became apparent, as Antony is an extremely popular player in FIFA 23.
Another example is Rafael Leao. The winger from AC Milan is also a very popular card in starter teams and currently looks like this when used in Ultimate Team:
Why does this face change occur? In FIFA 23, there are some players who have received a face scan and show their real face in FIFA 23.
Antony and Rafael Leao were not among them and had faces that were at most loosely based on their real appearance.
The completely generic heads they are currently showing in FIFA 23 Ultimate Team are an indicator that this is now changing: Because in the past, such faces often appeared on players whose appearance was about to be updated.
An example of this was Marco Reus, who looked completely wrong in FIFA 23 a little over three weeks ago (via reddit), but now looks like his real counterpart again.
So it likely only concerns a phase in which these players look the way they currently do. Soon they should show their real face again.
As part of updates, you can often find in the patch notes of FIFA 23 the note that “star heads” have been updated – but not which ones. This is likely to happen repeatedly in the future – so it is possible that you will encounter such faces more often.
In this case, it is not a bug in FIFA 23, but more of a transition phase. However, FIFA 23 has indeed confused players with some glitches in recent weeks.
