In FIFA 23 the servers are down: If you are about to start a casual round of FIFA 23 Ultimate Team or another online mode, you will be greeted with the following error message: “Unfortunately, an error occurred while connecting to FIFA 23 Ultimate Team. You are now returning to the FIFA 23 main menu.”.
So you will immediately be kicked out and have no way to complete online matches in FIFA 23 or use the FUT transfer market. Even the web and companion apps are affected.
EA explains the duration of the downtime – Server status
What does EA say? EA had previously announced the current server downtime on the “FIFA Direct Communication” channel via Twitter. It is scheduled maintenance that is expected to last from 09:30 to 11:00.

Which platforms are affected? According to EA Sports, all platforms on which FIFA 23 has been released are affected by the current server downtime. Thus, during the downtime, you cannot play on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PC, as well as PS4 and Xbox One.
