The big TOTY event in FIFA 23 is approaching and the community has the opportunity to vote on the composition of the Team of the Year. But not everyone is satisfied with the selection of candidates.
What is the TOTY anyway? “TOTY” stands for “Team of the Year” and represents one of the biggest events of the year in Ultimate Team.
The event brings extremely upgraded cards of the best players from the past year into the game. But who the best players are is determined by the community. Anyone can vote in the big TOTY voting and decide who among the 100 nominees makes it into the Team of the Year.
However, some players have an issue with this. Important top stars are missing from the community among the 100 candidates selected by EA.
Ronaldo and other top stars are missing from the community
It is not surprising given Ronaldo’s performance in 2022, but still quite unusual: Cristiano Ronaldo is missing from the 100 nominated players for the TOTY in FUT 23. This is the first time since the introduction of the TOTY in FUT that the Portuguese superstar is not part of the candidates.
The end of an era, as Twitter user “macartneyyt” also notes:
- “Breaking! Cristiano Ronaldo is not even a candidate for the Team of the Year. Crazy to think that Ronaldo will never receive a TOTY card again.”
But Ronaldo fans might still be lucky. First leaks show the introduction of completely new TOTY cards. According to the leak (via Twitter), they are called TOTY Icons. Maybe a way to bring a Ronaldo card into the game after all?
Whether there is any truth to the leak remains to be seen.
These players are missing from the community: But the FIFA community is not only surprised by Ronaldo’s absence. They especially miss the central defenders David Alaba and Antonio Rüdiger from Real Madrid, who showed strong performances last year.
