FIFA 23 was briefly available for Xbox consoles and first leaks show that Cristiano Ronaldo could actually receive a massive downgrade.
What is this leak about? Yesterday, on August 30, 2022, FIFA 23 was briefly available in the Xbox Store and could even be started and played after the download. Many players took advantage of this massive error by EA and leaked numerous player ratings on the internet.
Particularly exciting is the supposedly new rating of Cristiano Ronaldo, which represents a severe downgrade for the Portuguese superstar.
Important: One should keep in mind when considering the leaked ratings that the published version of FIFA 23 could still be an unfinished version. The ratings could therefore be adjusted again by the release.
How strong will Ronaldo be in FIFA 23?
The leak shows Ronaldo with a still strong overall rating of 90 points, which is a downgrade of one point compared to FIFA 22. He has strong shooting stats with 92 and his 85 dribbling should not make the card unplayable.
However, the biggest problem with the card is the extremely important pace stat. This has been massively reduced. His new speed is reported to be 81 according to the leak, which is a downgrade of 6 points.

Is Ronaldo still worth it in FIFA 23? That remains to be seen. Although the downgrade of the pace stat is particularly annoying, if the meta in FIFA 23 changes, less speedy strikers might get a chance again.
It remains exciting to see how good Ronaldo will actually be. His shooting and dribbling stats combined with the 5 stars in skill moves should still make him a very strong striker. It might just be that he is no longer among the best.
