With the launch of the FIFA 23 Web App, many players jumped straight into the SBCs of Ultimate Team. However, the new chemistry system is causing headaches – many SBCs are difficult, and some challenges seemingly impossible.
This is what’s happening with the SBCs: The Web App for FIFA 23 was released on 21.09. and provided players the opportunity to tackle their first Squad Building Challenges. Currently, the Web App is experiencing login issues.
SBCs are always very popular at the start of a FIFA title to trade for good players for your team. That way, you can already build a foundation in the Web App before the actual FIFA 23 release takes place.
However, this year players need to consider a new component.
Players struggle with new chemistry in FIFA 23
What kind of system is this? The established and well-known chemistry system has been abolished. In FIFA 23, there is a new system that introduces three chemistry points for players and ensures that fitting players no longer need to play next to each other.

This causes problems: While the system has a few exciting changes, one point makes SBCs extremely difficult: players apparently only contribute to chemistry if they are positioned correctly.
A goalkeeper up front brings no chemistry anymore. Just like a CAM in CM – actually a small difference, but extremely important in SBCs.
Here, position change items will be needed. However, hardly anyone has them at the moment, as the official FIFA 23 release of the actual game has not yet taken place.
In the FIFA subreddit, players are already complaining that SBCs are becoming very complicated this way. “Is it just me or is this unbelievably frustrating and makes SBCs with really specific requirements even more difficult?” posts a user (via reddit)
- “Hopefully they make the position change cards particularly cheap/easy to obtain,” hopes a player (via reddit) at least for some simplification.
- “I couldn’t even finish the basic SBCs that I was trying to do because I didn’t have a CB and CM from the same club. This new chemistry system is annoying,” another user complains (via reddit).
- “I can’t even complete the starter SBCs, lmao,” comments one in another thread (via reddit).
Right now, when players have hardly any coins, completing the SBCs is very difficult. Additionally, the rewards for some popular SBCs this year are untradeable.
This may ease somewhat as soon as the FIFA 23 Early Access starts and players can earn coins and rewards through matches. However, there are even more problems.
Difficult SBCs are currently unsolvable
Among other things, players discuss that some SBCs require exact or maximum chemistry values for players to complete an SBC. Previously, it was generally about “minimum” values.
Here, there’s currently even the issue that some of the more difficult SBCs have requirements that are mutually exclusive. These SBCs are actually among the most popular ways to obtain rewards at the start of FIFA – but are not functioning at the moment. It seems that EA has miscalculated.
For example, there’s a challenge that requires 11 players, but they may only have a maximum of one chemistry point. However, the total chemistry of the team should be 18 – this is mathematically impossible.
Also, the last “Hybrid Nations” SBC is such an example. It requires each player to have exactly 2 chemistry points, but the total team should have 24. It also doesn’t work (via reddit).
Clearly, this is an error that was not intended. Currently, one should not plan to complete the SBCs before the issue is corrected. Additionally, the rewards from these starter SBCs this year are untradeable and cannot be used on the market. Be sure to keep this in mind as well.
