The Twitch streamer and YouTuber “GamerBrother” regularly makes videos about FIFA 23. Now he has come up with something special: he built a team full of nostalgia – with his World Cup sticker album from 2006.
Normally, in FIFA 23 Ultimate Team, you try to build a particularly strong team that fits well into the gameplay on the virtual pitch. You look at stats, good chemistry, and skills – at least normally.
In a new video, the Twitch streamer Simon “GamerBrother” Schildgen, one of the biggest streamers of FIFA 23, focused on a different factor: nostalgia.
GamerBrother dug up his old Panini sticker album for the 2006 World Cup, which was held in Germany. The streamer went through it in the video and searched for players who are still in Ultimate Team today – and put together a team from that.

What you can see in the video: At the beginning, you can first see a few stadiums and the old lion mascot “Goleo”. After that, GamerBrother goes through each national team of the 2006 World Cup.
It starts with Germany, where stickers from players like Oliver Kahn, Torsten Frings, Tim Borowski, Kevin Kuranyi, or Miro Klose are still stuck. The latter directly lands as an icon in GamerBrother’s team.
Then come teams like Costa Rica, Poland with the hero card of goalkeeper Dudek, or England with many current icons, like Ferdinand, Beckham, and Owen. In Paraguay, the streamer also encounters the 41-year-old Roque Santa Cruz, who still has a card in FIFA 23 today.
In Sweden, Ibrahimović is already there, as well as hero Ljungberg. Through teams like Argentina (with Messi), Ivory Coast (Didier Drogba), and Brazil, the team keeps growing, especially with hero and icon cards. In the end, the following team emerges from players who were already there in 2006:
- Klose (Germany) and Drogba (Ivory Coast) in attack
- Messi (Argentina) at CAM
- Cristiano Ronaldo (Portugal) on the right wing, Ljungberg (Sweden) on the left
- In the center, Kuyt (Netherlands) and Pirlo (Italy) play
- The defenders are Lucio (Brazil), Ferdinand (England), and Nemanja Vidic (Serbia)
- Zlatan Ibrahimović sits on the bench
Then he takes the Italy jersey because Italy became world champion back then, and Vieira as the coach. And then the World Cup team goes into the first Rivals match.
GamerBrother still says “We’re playing with a real grandpa team”, but it turns out to be quite entertaining. The team doesn’t fit perfectly into the meta – but with Ronaldo and Messi, he scores two goals straight away for the first victory.
“I have to say, the team plays really better than expected, it’s a lot of fun, has a great retro vibe,” GamerBrother is happy and scores in the next game with Miro Klose… in the Italy jersey.
Users in the comments also enjoy the little nostalgia kick from the video and hope for more sticker album teams in FIFA 23. The fully filled album and the stickers are praised – however, some also point out that GamerBrother has glued the Spaniard Salgado in twice.

The streamer has found an unusual way to play FIFA 23 with the retro team. But in Ultimate Team, there are also things like the “Moments” mode that can provide variety. However, one task in it is currently absolute hell.
