Usually, teams in the FIFA 23 career mode cannot sign and field women. However, there seems to be an exception for one player.
What kind of bug is this? The user “theOUTCOME3” reports in the FIFA subreddit that an interesting bug has apparently occurred in his career mode (via reddit).
After starting the third season, the user stated that some teams are now fielding women alongside the male players and that they can also be signed on the transfer market.
In screenshots, the user shared how women and men stand together on the pitch, as well as the career stats of the player Lotte Wubben-Moy. However, he also commented that the save file now seems to be corrupted and he cannot progress to the next season.
How exactly this bug occurred is still unclear. However, the outcome is creating a discussion among players.
Are there no women’s teams in the FIFA 23 career mode?
In FIFA 23, there are some new features regarding women’s football. Among other things, Sam Kerr is featured on the cover, and first women’s club teams have also been introduced.
For example, the English league Barclays WSL and the French D1 Arkema are represented in the game. Female players can be played in Kick-off, Online Seasons, Coop Seasons, Online Friendlies, and Tournament modes, among others. In Volta and Pro Clubs, women have long been able to play alongside men.
However, in career mode, women do not appear – just like in Ultimate Team. Due to the bug, players are now discussing on Reddit whether women should be playable in career mode.
Some advocate for the idea and suggest that the option should be added in career mode. On the other hand, some believe that this possibility would disrupt immersion, as in real life, men and women do not play together in professional leagues (via reddit).
Some players suggest allowing the option, but not mandatorily – for example, through a setting option:
- “I think it would be a fun option for the career mode, to be honest. But as a choice, not as a glitch.” (via reddit).
- “I wish this were a feature because if I can play with Ted Lasso and the players of AFC Richmond, then I could surely use Sam Kerr and Beth Mead,” comments another (via reddit).
With AFC Richmond, a fantasy team from a TV show is playable in FIFA 23 – including characters from the series.
