The FIFA 23 Web App offers the chance to build your own Ultimate Team before the game launches. Here you will find tips on what you can do with the Web App.
This is the Web App: The Web App starts on September 21, 2022 – just a few days before the early access to FIFA 23 and well ahead of the official FIFA 23 release.
Even without the full game, you can already build a bit on your own Ultimate Team with the Web App. You can earn your first coins, complete SBCs, and buy players.
We have collected some tips for the first days with the Web App.
1. Claim your bonuses for returning players
What bonuses are these? In the past, players who had been playing Ultimate Team for a while received some bonus packs at the start of the Web App.
This year is expected to be no different. At least EA writes on the “EA Help” website regarding the question of what the return bonuses look like: “Your bonuses are based on your player history, your engagement in the game, your account status, and how uninterrupted your account is. Your bonuses may therefore differ from those of your friends” (via EA.com).
Therefore, there should be bonuses again. If you receive packs, you can use the contents for your initial steps.
2. Which cards to sell? Which not?
What should I do with the contents of the bonus packs? That depends on what cards you draw from the packs.
- Do not sell yet: Popular meta cards should be held for a few days. They might increase in price once early access to FIFA 23 allows the first players into the actual Ultimate Team mode. Only then do many players actually need good cards.
Additionally, most players don’t have many coins at the start, so they can’t put much on the transfer market. - Sell: There are “useless” cards, such as low-rated gold cards with nations, clubs, or leagues that are uninteresting for SBCs. You can sell those to quickly earn coins.
- Watch: Cards that might be interesting for SBCs should be monitored and sold when the price is high on the transfer market. These could be cards with high ratings or interesting combinations of nations/leagues.
This also applies to all tradable cards that you receive outside the bonus packs – such as from SBCs, packs, and more.
3. Don’t underestimate cosmetic items
What items are we talking about? Items like jerseys, stadiums, anthems, and the like quickly become regarded as “pack filler” during a season. However, especially at the beginning, they can sometimes be sold for a good price.
At the start, many players will adjust their clubs, looking for jerseys of their favorite teams and deciding how their club should look overall.
At this point, items from popular clubs like Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Manchester United, and others may sell well.
4. Should I sell cards quickly?
You should consider: Generally, it holds true that you can earn more coins by listing cards than by quick selling them. Therefore, you should usually choose the slightly more time-consuming method and list cards on the transfer market at a higher price.
However, there is an exception to keep in mind. Quick sold cards can be “retrieved” through the Web App up to a certain point.
If you have a special card, such as a TOTW card, that allows you to earn a significant number of coins through quick sale, you might consider taking advantage of this to secure those coins in the short term. You can then use them for trading and increase your coin balance.
Afterwards, you use a portion of your coins to retrieve the quickly sold special card and sell it for a higher price later on.

5. Choose a useful starter nation
Which starter nations are worthwhile? At the start of the new FUT season, you need to choose a starter nation for your team, from which you will receive a few cards.
However, many of these cards are likely not particularly useful for the actual game. Therefore, it could be beneficial to choose a nation that might be useful for the first SBCs in FIFA 23. You can already solve those in the Web App.
Countries that are well represented across many leagues are a good choice. Examples include Brazil, Argentina, or Germany.
6. Complete SBCs as cheaply as possible
Which SBCs are we talking about? Squad Building Challenges offer a great way to secure rewards. Here you find the typical starter SBCs, but also the slightly more complex ones from the “Hybrid Nations” and “Hybrid Leagues” categories. However, the rewards from these are untradeable this year – and therefore not particularly useful on the market.
Additionally, it seems that some of the SBCs aren’t working right now.
Try to complete these with as little investment as possible in the transfer market, and only buy individual players if necessary. Then the SBCs can give you good rewards without requiring too many strong players or coins.
However, in FIFA 23 you also need to pay attention to a new chemistry system in FUT. Solutions on portals like futbin can help give you an idea of which players are great for the challenge. They also offer a squad builder for testing.
However, keep in mind that many players will look at the top solutions and buy cards based on that on the transfer market. So, cheap players could suddenly become expensive. You should then consider looking for other players. However, you can also use this to your advantage.
7. Look for SBC solutions when trading
By “trading,” we mean the buying and selling of cards on the transfer market. In the first days after the launch of the Web App, many players will focus primarily on the available SBCs – after all, there isn’t much else you can do within the Web App.
Many will also use portals like “futbin” or other popular SBC solutions to complete the challenges quickly.
Now you can see which players are included in the most popular solutions for the SBCs and check if you can buy them at a low price and sell them at a higher price. Perhaps you already have suitable players in your club?
