You are looking for improvements for your team in FIFA 23, but don’t want to spend a fortune on the absolute top cards? Then you will find affordable alternatives for Ultimate Team here.
What kind of list is this? For more victories in Ultimate Team, you need a strong team, but the top players in FUT are expensive. Still, there are some good cards that can be obtained for less money.
After the big market crash in FIFA 23, many cards are now significantly cheaper than at the start of the game and in the weeks following. Therefore, strong players can be obtained for fewer coins than before.
We look at cards that cost a maximum of 25,000 coins on the transfer market. These are players who may not represent the absolute top in Ultimate Team, but can bring many teams a decent step forward.
Since it can vary from team to team which cards are worth it, we have not focused on specific leagues, nationalities, or positions, but mainly looked at strong stats.
Here you will find 7 players that can be worth it. However, keep in mind that the transfer market is dynamic and prices can change.
Fikayo Tomori
Price: approx. 19,000 coins
This is what makes Tomori stand out: Tomori was a very sought-after defender especially at the start of FIFA 23, with his price peaking at over 90,000 coins. Now you can get him for significantly cheaper.
And that could be worthwhile, as the AC Milan defender comes with excellent defensive stats and strong pace. Equip him with an Anchor style for best results.
By the way, he also has a slightly better but extremely expensive TOTW card. The lastly cost some players coins.
Frenkie De Jong
Price: approx. 19,000 coins
This is what makes De Jong stand out: De Jong experienced a very similar price development as Tomori. The FC Barcelona player fits in terms of chemistry especially in LaLiga teams and can score points with strong stats in the center.
Equipped with a Shadow style, you get a midfielder who is strong defensively but can also pull the strings offensively.
Antonio Rüdiger
Price: approx. 21,000 coins
This is what makes Rüdiger stand out: While we are already in LaLiga: Rüdiger cost around 150,000 coins at the start of FIFA 23, now it’s only 21,000. Nonetheless, he should still be a strengthening of the defense for many teams.
Similar to Tomori, Rüdiger offers the necessary speed and absolutely strong defensive and physical stats. He can also play passes, but struggles with shooting and dribbling. A “Shadow” style is also advisable here.
Christopher Nkunku
Price: approx. 12,250 coins
This is what makes Nkunku stand out: With a price of over 160,000 coins, Nkunku was initially hardly affordable, but now he is at a pleasant 12,250 coins.
But even for the low price, you get a great player with Nkunku: The attacker has decent pace, very good dribbling stats, and good stats for shooting and passing. Additionally, he has the important 5-star skills, making him a player for tricksters.
Use a Hunter, and you’ll get a versatile player who can impress mainly as a CAM or ST, behind the striker, or on the wings if you shift him outside in gameplay.
Ousmane Dembélé
Price: approx. 8,500 coins
This is what makes Dembélé stand out: Speaking of “players for tricksters” – before the last patch, attention was mainly on players with the “Lengthy” style, but now explosive players are also strong again. So it’s no wonder that Ousmane Dembélé’s return to the meta didn’t take long.
The Frenchman has been a popular trickster in FIFA 23 for years, causing chaos for opponents on the wing. High pace and deadly dribbling skills make Dembélé dangerous. He already shines as a playmaker – with a “Finisher” style, he can also be very dangerous in front of goal.
Tips for gameplay after the patch can be found here.
Ferland Mendy
Price: approx. 18,750 coins
This is what makes Mendy stand out: Let’s stick with the “old favorites.” Ferland Mendy is similar to Dembélé, a player who performs better than his stats might suggest. Despite the 83 overall rating, the Real Madrid left-back is a top choice on the left side.
With the “Architect” style, he also gets the “Lengthy” attribute. While that’s not as effective in offense anymore, it’s still a very good choice defensively.
Moise Kean
Price: approx. 12,500 coins
This is what makes Kean stand out: The TOTW card of Kean is relatively new in FUT but has received a significant upgrade compared to his gold version. From a 78 rating, Kean simply jumped up by 8 points to 86 – and thus became a really good option in offense.
High speed, good dribbling, strong shooting and physicality – Kean is an affordable striker who has almost everything you need, especially with the Marksman style. Only the weak foot with 2 stars is actually not helpful.
By the way: Besides the TOTW card, Kean has also just received a POTM card as an SBC that could be worth it.
