Advantages and Contents of the Ultimate Edition
This is the Ultimate Edition of FIFA 22: The Ultimate Edition includes a lot of additional bonuses that the Standard version of FIFA 22 does not offer. However, there are also additional contents that both versions share.
These bonuses are available in both the Standard and the Ultimate Edition:
- Team-of-the-Week Players (FUT)
- Mbappé Loan Card (FUT)
- FUT Ambassador Loan Player (FUT)
- Career Mode Youth Player (Career Mode)
These bonuses are only offered in the Ultimate Edition:
- FUT Heroes Card on December 1st (FUT) – available with pre-order until August 11th

FIFA 22 with Early Access – How to Play the Game First
Here’s how to start early: In addition to the various bonuses mentioned above, the Ultimate Edition offers perhaps the biggest advantage: an early start for FIFA 22! Pre-order customers of the Ultimate Edition can start a full 4 days earlier and thus gain an advantage in Ultimate Team.
These are the start times:
- FIFA 22 Ultimate Edition – September 27, 2021
- FIFA 22 Standard Edition – October 1, 2021
You can even start even earlier if you are an EA Play subscriber. Then you will receive a 10-hour test phase for FIFA 22, which starts as early as September 22.

So is the Ultimate Edition worth it? If you want to start FIFA 22 as soon as possible and mainly play Ultimate Team, then the Ultimate Edition offers some attractive benefits that might be interesting for FUT players. However, it should be noted that the additional contents of the Ultimate Edition have the potential to disappoint.
While you do receive a coveted Ones-to-Watch card and a new FUT Heroes card, these random cards do not automatically guarantee good players. There could also be cards that are simply not strong or do not fit into your team.
However, if an early start is extremely important to you or you have friends on different console generations that you want to play with, then there is no way around the Ultimate Edition.
If an early start doesn’t matter to you and you prefer to spend your FIFA time in Career Mode, with Pro Clubs, or with friends on the couch, then you can safely go for the Standard version. It offers a few nice advantages and otherwise has the same gameplay content as the Ultimate Edition. Only a few Ultimate Team bonuses are missing here.
