In FIFA 22 you can soon choose the TOTY. The candidates for the midfield of the “Team of the Year” have now been announced.
What is the TOTY? The “Team of the Year” is a regular event in Ultimate Team, where some of the best cards come into the game. These cards usually have a total rating significantly above 90 and cost a lot of coins on the transfer market.
You can obtain them from the packs in FIFA 22. However, the chance of getting a TOTY card in packs is very, very low.
How does the TOTY voting work? There are several nominees for each position in the TOTY from which players can choose which cards should receive the coveted upgrade. The voting phase runs from Monday, January 10, 2022 at 5:00 PM, until January 18, 2022 at 8:59 AM.
The nominated attackers are already known. Now we also know the 26 midfielders that players can vote for starting Monday.

In midfield, we also find a selection of the best players in the world. The candidates are spread across various leagues. From the Bundesliga, there are 7 candidates with Dani Olmo, Leon Goretzka, Joshua Kimmich, Filip Kostić, Thomas Müller, Jude Bellingham, and Florian Wirtz.

When looking purely from a FIFA perspective at the selection, there are some cards that should become extremely strong if they make it into the TOTY. This is especially true for Kanté, Son, or Marcos Llorente. The three are already among the most popular meta cards in FIFA 22 and, as high 90 variants, would likely be hard to stop.
But cards like Fernandes, Barella, or Goretzka are already very popular and could receive a substantial upgrade with the TOTY card.
When looking at real football, the arguments for who deserves a card become even more exciting. Should you choose the Champions League winners from Chelsea? Or players from the current European champion Italy? Do you take both by choosing Jorginho? Or do you simply choose your personal favorite players?
One thing is for sure: No matter which players receive the TOTY upgrade – they will likely be very exciting for potential FUT teams.
