When will Title Update 5 be released? Title Update 5 was announced on February 1, 2022, via Twitter – initially as usual, only for PC. It is now available via Steam and Origin.
FIFA 22 addresses annoying problem with Title Update 5
What’s included in the update? In fact, Title Update 5 only addresses a single issue. This is noticeable, as previous Title Updates were significantly more comprehensive.
Nevertheless, the update should be interesting for many players: According to the patch notes, one of the issues that has been bothering players for ages is being resolved. It states:
The following change has been made:
FIFA 22 Patch Notes (via EA Forums)
– The likelihood of a player retaining the ball after intercepting or blocking a ground pass has been increased.
– This change does not affect how often ground passes are intercepted and blocked; it only impacts the outcome of interceptions and blocks.
What does this mean for players? In the past, it was quite frustrating when the ball would simply bounce back to the opponent after one had just put in a lot of effort to intercept a pass. One had positioned their player just to secure the ball – only to lose it immediately.
This should now change. Accordingly, the first reactions in the FIFA subreddit are also positive:
- “This is a good thing. I’m tired of winning the ball only for the striker to get it back before I can pass,” says user “trinibeast” (via reddit).
- “This was so necessary. If I make a perfect tackle, my opponent shouldn’t be in a better position afterward. Even the TOTY defenders experienced this,” says user “Real_Jerry” (via reddit).
- “This should be good (if implemented correctly). It’s ridiculous to intercept the pass five times in a row, and the ball is deflected to the attacker every time,” says user “real022” (via reddit).
The issue has been criticized for a long time in the FIFA subreddit. The fact that this is now set to change could make concentrated interceptions of passes a more valuable option in defense. However, it should be noted that the update only speaks of ground passes for now. How it will affect high passes or tackles remains to be seen.
In addition to the new update, there are fresh contents in Ultimate Team: The Future Stars event is drawing closer to replace the TOTY. Right now, you can secure Future Stars tokens for rewards in FUT.
