In FIFA 22, Season 2 in Ultimate Team is approaching. This brings some changes – including one regarding Weekend League qualification.
What changes for Weekend League qualification: Anyone who wants to compete in the so-called “FUT Champions Finals” on the weekend must first get through the “FUT Champions Play-Offs”. However, to reach those, you must first collect sufficient qualification points.
- Until now, you needed a total of 1,500 Champions Points to qualify for the Play-Offs.
- With the start of Season 2 in FUT, this will change: From then on, you will need 2,000 points.

What does this mean? Primarily, it means that you need more games to even make it to the Play-Offs. Depending on which division you are in, victories and matches bring different amounts of points – the lower your division, the fewer Champions Points you receive.
Qualification for the Weekend League is generally considered difficult, as you must start collecting points again if you cannot achieve sufficient victories in the 9 Play-Off games.
Having to collect 500 more points does not make it any easier.
Where can you still get points? Besides the matches, you also get points from the Division Rivals rewards and the Weekend League rewards. Particularly a strong performance in the Weekend League brings a lot of points that help with re-qualification. However, you must succeed in the Play-Offs in any case.
Season 2 in FUT begins – What else changes?
When does Season 2 start? Season 2 in FUT starts on Thursday, November 11 at 09:00 AM (German time).
Other changes: On the one hand, there will be a new season progress, but the video also addresses other points.
Among other things, there will be a progress reset. You will be reset back several divisions – depending on where you currently stand.
- Players in Division 6 and higher will drop by two divisions. According to the video, this also includes players from the Elite Division.
- 7 and 8 will drop down one division.
- 9 and 10 will not drop further.
This brings the task of climbing back up through the divisions. However, some players have wished to be able to relegate because they found themselves in divisions that were too high.
What about my Weekend League points? When the new season begins, things like FUT Champions points and already received finals tokens will carry over. However, the number of games in the Play-Offs will reset to 0 if you have already started. So you should finish in time before it’s too late.
