Those who want to participate in the Weekend League of FIFA 22 must overcome several hurdles. It hasn’t been easy lately. But now the requirements are being lowered.
So far: To participate in the “FUT Champions Finals“, you had to collect 2,000 Champs Points in the “Division Rivals” mode. Depending on which division you are in, you earn more points per win.
This means: In the lower divisions, you need a hell of a lot of matches to reach 2,000.
Once you have the points, you can participate in the “FUT Champions Play-Offs”. You can play these whenever you want. Here, you had to earn 24 points from 9 matches to qualify for the Finals – that is, the Weekend League.
A victory brings 4 points and a loss gives 1 point. Therefore, at least 5 wins from 9 matches were needed (plus four losses) to qualify for the Finals.
This process was criticized by some players as being too harsh, especially when it became even harder in Season 2 than in Season 1. Especially the Play-Offs often resulted in narrowly missed qualifications and thus frustration. Now EA is adjusting the qualification.
From Season 3, fewer wins are required for WL qualification
This is the change: Starting from the beginning of Season 3 in FIFA 22, which begins on Thursday, December 23 at 09:00 AM, new standards will apply. EA announced this via the FIFA Direct Communication channel (via Twitter).
From this point on, you only need 1,250 Champions Points to qualify for the Play-Offs. Thus, significantly fewer Rivals matches should be required to reach the Play-Offs.
Changes are also being made to the Play-Offs. Instead of having to obtain 24 points from 9 matches, starting Thursday: You only need 20 points and have 10 matches to achieve this.
This means that starting Thursday morning, 4 wins and 4 losses will be enough to qualify for the Weekend League.
In addition to the point changes, both Play-Offs and Finals will receive additional ranks and different reward distributions.
This is what the community says: If you look at the FIFA subreddit, you can find many players who are happy about the point changes.
- “A great change for those who have had difficulty qualifying so far. You can now go 4-6 and still make it, which is quite easy. This also means that more casual players will participate in the WL, and that’s a win for everyone,” says user “justletmecreateanick” (via reddit).
- “I always get 4 wins out of 9, so 4 out of 10 should be a piece of cake,” says user “mojomonkey” (via reddit).
- “Since the game was released, I have always said that this system would definitely not last until TOTY. You can’t exclude casual players from the only good rewards in the game and expect them to continue playing and buying packs,” user michaelt223 had already anticipated a change (via reddit).
For many, it will now be more realistic to participate in the Weekend League when it previously failed by one or two wins. Additionally, the time saved to even reach the Play-Offs.
