In FIFA 22 today, on October 15, the new “Road to the Knockouts” begins. We will show you Team 1 and what you can expect in the new event for Champions League & Co.
When does the event start? In FIFA 22, there is a new loading screen that announces the start of “Road to the Knockouts” for October 15, 7:00 PM. Thus, the new event falls into the usual time slot.
What does the event involve? “Road to the Knockouts” is a completely new event that brings some things that FIFA fans have been familiar with for a while.
There are various special cards that will land in packs on Friday evening, thus displacing the OTW-Team 2. Additionally, there will likely be new weekly objectives and SBCs at the start of the event as usual.
We will take a closer look at what special cards are in the event.
Road to the Knockouts – Team 1 with dynamic cards
This is Team 1 of Road to the Knockouts: Here you see the first RTTK team of the event.
What special cards are these? In the past, there have been “Road to…” events, only they were called, for example, in FIFA 21 “Road to the Final”.
Dynamic cards landed in the game back then: They could get better if the real team of the player reached certain milestones in the Champions League or Europa League. The RTTF events were always quite popular because they had a direct connection to real football. This could also affect the transfer market in crazy football matches.
The new cards will also feature such functionality. There are two upgrade possibilities:
- On one hand, the cards will improve if the players qualify for the knockout phase in their respective tournament.
- On the other hand, there will be upgrades for 3 victories within the next 4 group phase matches.
New tournament on board: The loading screen currently shows three different card types that are very similar in design to the old Road-to-the-Final cards (RTTF).
- The first card type is dedicated to the Champions League
- The second belongs to the Europa League
- The third card type is associated with the “Conference League”, which FIFA 22 has also licensed
The Conference League is a new European tournament taking place for the first time this season. From Germany, Union Berlin is participating this year – so it’s possible that there will be a special card here.
