Skill moves and tricks are an important means of gaining the upper hand in 1v1 situations in FIFA 21 and FIFA 22. Ideally, a well-executed skill move can overcome the last defender and lead to a goal. But what changes with skill moves in FIFA 22?
We will show you which skill moves are new, which are changing, and what else is important to know.

The skill moves and tricks in FIFA 22
What’s new in FIFA 22: A big change in FIFA 22 will be that skill moves can now be executed with the first touch of the ball. In FIFA 21, the ball had to be controlled first before you could trigger a skill move.
A practical change that the new gameplay of FIFA 22 should make much smoother. However, there are a few limitations:
- These skill moves cannot be performed with the first touch: “Overstep”, “Feints”, “Bridge” and “Directional Nutmeg”.
- First-time skill moves are harder to control than normal skill moves that you perform out of dribbling, especially when the ball is coming in at high speed.
- First-time skill moves do not work with balls played through.

What changes with the skill moves: A whole range of popular skill moves will be adjusted and changed for FIFA 22:
- “La Croqueta”, “Elastico”, “Reverse Elastico” and “Scoop Turn” can no longer be canceled.
- With the “Bridge” and “Directional Nutmeg”, the speed of the animation will be reduced.
- “Drag Back Spin”, “Four Touch Turn” and “Overstep” can now be canceled (R2/RT + L2/LT).
- The “Drag to Drag Skill Move” is now executed by holding the right stick back.
- The “Heel to Heel” will be made harder.
- There are new animations for the “Directional Nutmeg”.
These are the new skill moves in FIFA 22: EA Sports has announced a total of 4 new skill moves for the new FIFA installment. However, how strong these moves are is still unknown.
The new skill moves:
- Four Touch Turn: Hold L2/LT and flick the right stick back twice
- Skilled Bridge: Hold L2/LT and double tap R1/RB
- First Time Spin: Hold L1/LB + R1/RB when the ball approaches the player
- Scoop Turn Fake: Hold the left stick in the opposite direction after executing a “forward Scoop Turn”
