The “FUT Hero” cards in FIFA 22 are currently a topic again thanks to a new SBC. But are the hero cards still worth it?
What’s going on with the FUT Heroes? A new SBC is currently active in Ultimate Team: The FUT Hero Player Pick.
When you complete it, you get the choice of 3 hero cards, from which you can choose one for your team. To do so, you need to exchange the following card sets:
- An 83-rated squad with at least 2 TOTW players and 55 chemistry. As a partial reward, you will receive a small Prime Gold Player Pack.
- Additionally, an 84-rated squad. This must contain at least one TOTW player and reach a chemistry of 50. Here you receive a Jumbo Gold Pack as a reward.
According to the current market situation, the solution for the SBC is valued at about 80,000 coins – at least if you have to buy all players new. In combination with the selection option, the risk is already lower, than with the FUT Hero upgrade from November.
If you can use existing player fodder to complete parts of the SBC, the price will be slightly lower. However, you won’t be able to use these players for other SBCs again – that’s something to keep in mind.
But is the SBC worth 80,000 coins at all? Based on the current hero prices, there are actually only 4 cards you should hope for from the SBC.
Which FUT Heroes are the big win?
You should keep in mind: Even though you get 3 options in the player pick: It is quite unlikely to pull one of the four top cards. The risk of getting one of the weaker hero cards is high.
Furthermore: The FUT Hero from the SBC is definitely untradeable – so you cannot make coins with it. Therefore, the card should significantly strengthen your team. And there are actually only 4 “bangers”:
David Ginola
David Ginola is the absolute big win if you pull him. The Frenchman is still worth over a million coins and has really strong stats. 5 stars for skills and weak foot make Ginola extremely versatile, along with strong stats in pace, shooting, passing, and dribbling. He also offers links to Ligue 1, which is well-stacked this year.
Iván Córdoba
Córdoba is currently valued at about 420,000 coins and can impress as a very strong center-back. He also has high pace and very strong stats in defense and physical. Only his height can sometimes be a disadvantage for heading. Nevertheless, he is a great card that brings good links to Serie A.
Abedi Pelé
Like Ginola, Abedi Pelé plays in Ligue 1 and can impress there with strong offensive stats and the 4/4 star combination. He is currently worth about 350,000 coins on the transfer market.
The card has basically everything you need for a strong playmaker. Only his physicality is lacking a bit, and defending is not something you need with Abedi Pelé.
Antonio Di Natale
The Italian forward has also significantly dropped in price but still stands at around 300,000 coins on the transfer market. He excels in finishing and brings a high attacking rate.
He also plays in Serie A and can link up with Italian players.
What about the rest of the FUT Heroes?
Many of the FUT heroes have dropped in price over the past weeks and months and are now available for significantly less than 80,000 coins.
They have now been simply surpassed by other special cards in terms of usefulness.
If you still want a specific card, it’s better to buy it directly on the transfer market. This card is also tradable if you want to sell it later.
An exception is Robbie Keane. The striker currently costs about 70,000 coins on the transfer market and is thus just below the SBC value. If you factor in the reward packs and possibly already owned SBC players, he is roughly worth the investment – but still untradeable. However, Keane can at least impress with good offensive stats.
Next are Joe Cole with a player for 35,000 coins and Morientes and Kohler for 35,000 coins each. All other heroes are below 30,000, sometimes significantly.
In conclusion, it is clear: If you want to try your luck and have a few players that could go into the SBC anyway, you can take the risk and hope for one of the top cards. However, you could also have bad luck and pull one of the many weaker options.
Along with the heroes, the icons in FIFA 22 are also there to bring back legendary players from the past. But even the icons have a value problem in FIFA 22.
