The FIFA 22 Career Mode allows you to create your own club. We show you all the innovations that the Career Mode in FIFA 22 will receive.
This is the Career Mode: The Career Mode is perhaps the most important offline mode in FIFA. It is divided into Manager and Player career.
- In Manager Career, players take over a club of their choice and try to lead it to the top of the world. For this, players are bought and sold, talents are trained, and of course, a lot of matches are won – at least in an ideal scenario.
- In Player Career, however, you can take control of a single player and guide their career from nobody to star.
While in previous years only existing teams could be used, the career is now more personal. Players can create their own club – with everything that entails.
FIFA 22 Career Mode – Founding Your Own Club
This is how you start with your own club: First, you can set a name and a nickname for your club that commentators will use (via EA Sports / Pitch Notes).
After that, you select the league in which you want to play. To do this, you must replace a club that will then be managed in the “Rest of the World”. You can choose any league in FIFA 22. So it is up to you whether you want to fight your way up or start at the top right away.
Next, you need a rival club against which you can have particularly exciting matches. This will also be addressed in the Career Mode through commentary, news, and similar features.
You can customize the following in the club: At the beginning of each season, you can customize three points in your club.
- The crest
- The jersey
- The stadium
So you don’t have to start each season with the same look as the last one – no one does that in real life either.
This is how you customize the stadium: The stadium is already customizable in Ultimate Team and recently also Pro Clubs, now the Career Mode follows.
You can customize the following:
- The color
- The seat color
- Field patterns
- Goals
- Goal songs
- Chants
- Club anthem
With these options, you can make your club significantly more personal than in the past.
This is how you acquire your team: You start the Career Mode with a so-called “Squad Builder” that allows you to create your basic club. Here too, you can decide whether you want to start as an underdog or right away with really strong players.
You can also adjust the transfer budget based on these factors. The same goes for the requirements from your club management. Depending on how strong your club is, the priorities of your club managers will vary as well.
Player Career Becomes More Comprehensive
What changes in Player Career? The Player Career has also received some upgrades. The first of these: You can finally be a substitute!
Although it’s not something you necessarily want, in the past it was not possible to be brought onto the field by the coach from the bench. This is now possible – and is more representative of how young players start in professional football.
This is how your coach rates you: In order to rise in the team, you must earn the trust of your coach. The coach assigns you specific tasks for each of your appearances.
If you fulfill them, your rating increases. If you fail, there are consequences.
Depending on how you and your teammates perform, your role in the team will be determined. At large clubs, it becomes correspondingly harder to get and keep a spot. If in doubt, it can even happen that you land on the loan or transfer list.
This is how you improve: Your self-created players earn experience points as you level up. You can earn XP through training, but mainly through good matches. The amount depends on your performance and factors like goals and assists.
You can then spend the points in the skill tree. This way, you can precisely control in which direction you want to improve your Pro.
Moreover, there is also a perk system, similar to the Pro Clubs mode. These are also available with level ups and you can equip up to three of them.
The perks give you an additional boost in various areas. There are, for example, perks for:
- Chance creation
- Long shots
- Headers from set pieces
- Extra shot power after scoring a goal
- and many more
More Atmosphere in Career
This is how the Career is improved: Overall, the Career Mode is equipped with more “atmosphere”. This includes things like:
- Scenes from the locker room in Player Career, where players celebrate or mourn – depending on how the match went.
- More story elements in the news that are taken into account in the career. For example, when new players debut, you win an award, or set new records.
From PS5, Xbox Series X, and Stadia, there will also be new cinematics. For example, there will be scenes when your manager takes a new job, or when the crowd leaves early if you play poorly.
Your club heroes can now also be celebrated in choreography in the stands. This is now possible for all players – even those you have created yourself.
Will FIFA 22 Get an Online Career Mode?
This is the situation with Online Career Mode: Many players have long wanted an online component in Career Mode. Currently, it does not appear that FIFA 22 will have one.
An Online Career Mode is unfortunately not mentioned in the Pitch Notes. Therefore, it can be assumed that the Career Mode in FIFA 22 remains an offline experience.
