In FIFA 22 the Title Update 9 will be released. This brings some new features to the game, but it also removes all Russian teams, as EA had announced.
When will Title Update 9 come to FIFA 22? Title Update 9 was announced via Twitter for “soon”. However, this currently applies only to PC. On consoles, players will have to wait a few more days before the update is ready for download.
Typically, it can take up to a week for the latest updates to also be available for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
This is the biggest point: The patch notes for the new Title Update 9 show that the Russian teams will now be removed from FIFA 22. EA Sports had already announced this step at the beginning of March:
With Title Update 9, the following steps will be taken:
- The selection of the favorite club has been changed to PSG if the Russian national team or another Russian team was previously selected.
- The stadium of Spartak Moscow will be removed.
- The selection of arena players and goalkeepers has been changed to PSG players if players from the Russian national team or another Russian team were previously selected.
- In career mode, the Russian national team and other Russian clubs can no longer be chosen in new careers. They will also no longer appear as opponents in competitions.
- In Pro Clubs, jerseys and stadium items will be changed if they were selected.
Some of the changes will be activated with a server update. However, that is not everything that Title Update 9 includes.

What’s also in Title Update 9: Among other things, the update will affect the CONMEBOL content. Among other things, the competition structure for both the Libertadores and Sudamericana competitions in career mode will be updated.
In addition, clubs that qualified for the group stage of both competitions in 2022 will be added, and the rosters will be adjusted. However, these contents will only be activated after a server update.
Additionally, some gameplay aspects are also changing:
- For example, it could happen that a player-controlled goalkeeper did not release the ball when he should have.
- Packs could be opened in the wrong order.
- The ping display could show significantly high numbers.
- Some crests incorrectly showed a placeholder.
Alongside the update, the current event in FIFA 22 continues. It’s called “FUT Captains” and brings numerous strong cards.
