In FIFA 22 you can now get Kanté with a Flashback SBC. We will see if the “budget version” of Kanté is worth it.
What kind of card is this? Flashback cards usually remind us of the past times of top players who no longer have such good stats today. However, in Kanté’s case, it’s different: he actually gets a Flashback card with weaker stats than his Gold card.
There has already been a similar card for Cristiano Ronaldo, who was also available in a “budget flashback version” in FIFA 21.
Why is the Flashback card interesting? N’golo Kanté is one of the best players in FIFA 22. His regular CDM card is extremely popular as he is considered a player who is hard to overcome. However, the Gold card is very expensive, despite the low transfer market. Until yesterday, it cost over 400,000 coins (since the SBC release, even the Gold card has become cheaper, now at around 384,000 coins).
On the other hand, the SBC card can be obtained for fewer coins. According to current futbin solutions from the community, you can get Kanté’s Flashback card for 286,000 coins if you go in completely without SBC fodder. If you have a few untradeable players in your club, you can use them to further reduce the price.
So it is a cheaper way for players to get a Kanté card for their team. But is it worth it?
Flashback Kanté vs Gold Kanté
Here’s how the cards differ: Basically, these are cards that are not too far apart in terms of stats. The overall rating differs by 3 points. Specifically, the difference is as follows:
- Flashback Kanté is slightly faster than Gold Kanté. However, the four points don’t make much of a difference.
- The shot stat is identical.
- In passing, Gold Kanté has slight advantages.
- In dribbling, Flashback is ahead by one point.
- In the defensive area, the Gold card is stronger. Among other things, it has 8 points more in “Defensive Awareness” and 6 points more in standing tackles. Slide tackles are 4 points higher.
- In terms of physique, Gold is also stronger. Particularly noticeable are 13 points more in the “Aggression” area.
An important further point is the work rates. Gold Kanté has a medium attacking rate and high defensive rate, while Flashback has both values set to “High”. This is not necessarily good, as it runs the risk that your Flashback Kanté will get too involved in the attack and then not be defensively present when you need him. And primarily, Kanté is meant to be a defensive player.
Overall, it can be said that even though Flashback Kanté is weaker than Standard Kanté, he is still an extremely strong CDM.
Is the card worth it? Here one has to weigh the options. Flashback Kanté will be an enhancement for many teams – but the SBC is not cheap. The price for the card is probably still okay, but it is not easy to obtain. However, if you have the opportunity to lower the price with untradeable players, you should consider it.
However, if you go into the SBC completely without untradeable players and have to spend nearly 300,000 coins, you should almost think about the Gold card again and possibly save up for it. It’s possible that it will fall further. And: The card can be sold if necessary – the SBC card cannot.
