Twitch streamer Castro_1021 is known for his excessive streams in FIFA 22. Now, he received the news during a stream that he has been banned from the transfer market in Ultimate Team – which left him completely puzzled.
Who is this about? Edwin “Castro_1021” Castro is arguably the biggest streamer in the FIFA domain. With 3.3 million followers on Twitch, he tops the ranking of “FIFA streamers with the most followers” on Twitchmetrics.
He also ranks at the top in the categories “Most Watched”, “Fastest Growing”, and “Highest Peak Viewership” in the last 30 days. Only in “Most Popular” does he sit in second place – surpassed only by the official FIFA 22 channel (via Twitchmetrics).
Moreover, he was the host of the official EA FIFA show “Face-Off”, where stars like Trevor Noah and Jason Sudeikis also appeared.
Thus, the news that Castro has now been banned from the transfer market in FIFA 22 was particularly surprising. And that live on stream.
Castro receives transfer market ban – “This must be a mistake”
This is what happened: On Twitch, viewers could watch live as Castro tried to navigate the transfer market when suddenly he received error messages. “There is a problem with communicating with the servers” it states, and then suddenly the message pops up: “Account at Risk”.
The message accuses the streamer of “Coin Distribution”, that is, the unlawful trading or shifting of coins. Therefore, his account is now permanently blocked from the FUT transfer market. This means: One cannot buy or sell player cards.
Castro initially reacts with a drawn-out “Whaaaaaaaaat?” His shock is clearly visible:
He wonders how this could have happened: “Permanently banned? I just spent 300,000 FIFA points on Black Friday, and you think I’m distributing coins?!” Amounts that are not unfamiliar to Castro: Like many other FIFA streamers, he is also known for pack-opening videos, where a lot of money can flow. For the TOTY event in FIFA 20, he invested about 800,000 FIFA points – which corresponded to approximately 6,700 euros.
As a result, he searches for an explanation: “This must be a mistake,” he says, and then considers that it might have to do with so-called “Red Picks”.
What are “Red Picks”? These are actually untradeable Weekend League rewards. However, at the start of the FIFA season, there were faulty cards that could be sold on the transfer market. Castro had grabbed them – and then sold them back at a high price. “Is it because I bought Red Players? This is your mistake. You made them tradable,” he states.
In addition, he sold all tradable cards from his club on the same day, according to Castro. Consequently, he received a large amount of coins at once – and now suspects that this might have been the trigger.
In the past, players reported that they received such a ban after particularly heavy transfers involving many coins. Now players suspect that this has also happened to Castro. However, the official explanation does not go into detail beyond the accusation of “Coin Distribution”.
Therefore, Castro considers the ban a dud: “This must be a mistake. You literally saw everything I did over the weekend during the Black Friday promo. On stream, everything was on stream,” Castro states: “Everything we have ever done on this account is on stream.”
