The last Weekend League ended earlier than expected. Now FIFA 22 is distributing compensation – but many players feel it is not enough.
What is the problem? For the current “Team of the Season” event, the timings of the Weekend League have been adjusted. Instead of running from Friday to early Monday, the Weekend League now runs from Fridays at 9:00 PM to Wednesdays at 9:00 AM. So it was at least originally announced.
However, the last Weekend League ended 24 hours early. This was displayed in the game via a countdown timer, but those who relied on the original announcement and logged in on Tuesday evening to play a few games were left disappointed.
EA Sports also confirmed on Twitter that this was a mistake.
As compensation, the following has now been considered:
- Players who qualified for the last FUT Champions Finals will receive 1,500 FUT Champions qualification points credited for the next week.
- Additionally, a seasonal objective will be published at the beginning of next week, which includes an untradeable Prime Gold Player Pack and 3000 XP.
However, the response to this announcement has mostly been negative. Players evidently expected a bit more.
Of all weekends, the Premier League weekend comes with a mistake
What players criticize: Both in the FIFA subreddit and in Twitter comments, the compensation is being criticized as inadequate. The main reason: Last weekend, players could earn the Premier League TOTS players as part of the Player Picks.
Premier League cards are traditionally the most popular in Ultimate Team, and the TOTS cards are particularly strong. At the same time, they are also extremely expensive and hard to obtain in packs. Accordingly, the Weekend League is one of the best ways to acquire these cards – for some, this Weekend League is the most important one in the FIFA year.
That receiving only qualification points and a 45,000 coin pack is simply not enough for many. This is what some are saying on Twitter:
- “So… you give people an average pack, which they have to play for to compensate for the loss of good packs, instead of just giving them free packs,” comments one (via Twitter).
- “This cannot be the compensation given to those who missed the PL Reds. Shameful!” (via Twitter)
- Another user says on Twitter: “Wouldn’t it have been easier to compensate those who didn’t manage to finish their 20 games? This seems like a strange approach.”
Similar criticism also exists on reddit: “This issue did not affect me, as I play WL on Saturdays, but this compensation is a joke for those who were affected,” writes user gobaldygooch (via reddit). He continued, “I understand that it’s probably hard for EA to determine exactly who was affected, but this compensation is terrible.”
He states that the qualification points don’t mean much, just like the XP: “So you only have a 45k pack, which you won’t get until there are no more packs for Prem-TOTS. At the same time, there will be some people who completely missed red picks of the Prem-TOTS worth hundreds of thousands of coins (untradeable).”
Overall, some players expected a better compensation here. On May 13, the Premier League TOTS in FIFA 22 will be replaced, and it will not be possible to obtain it from packs for the time being. Instead, at 7:00 PM, the Bundesliga TOTS will appear in Ultimate Team.
