In FIFA 21 you can now compete in Ultimate Team with a friend in FUT Co-op. We have tips for you to ensure your success.
What is FUT Co-op? New in FIFA 21 is that you can play games in Ultimate Team with friends. Previously, you could already play FUT matches with two players on one console. However, the new co-op feature can be played online and offers significantly more possibilities. Both players earn experience points and rewards.
These modes can be played cooperatively:
- Division Rivals
- Squad Battles
- Friendly Matches
How the FUT Co-op process works and how to play together, we explain here.
Tips for the new FUT Co-op mode
What you should keep in mind: With these tips for FUT Co-op games, you should pay attention to the same things as in regular co-op games in FIFA 21. If you communicate and get well-coordinated, playing as a duo can provide significant advantages.
1. Coordinate in defense
When you control a team as a duo for the first time, it can feel unfamiliar, especially in defense. You should avoid playing too aggressively with the defenders. This can create huge gaps in your defense that can quickly lead to goals. Therefore, coordinate together and call out which player you are marking or which run or pass path you are blocking.
With some practice, you will have a really solid defense that would not work as easily in solo play.
2. Only one player should run for the ball
If the opponent loses the ball, make sure that not both players rush to the ball. Only one can get it anyway. Ideally, one player runs for the ball while the other positions themselves for a potential pass. Communication is required here as well.
3. Use the new techniques and tricks from FIFA 21
Especially at the start of FIFA, it is important to familiarize yourself with the new gameplay mechanics. Make sure to learn the new skill moves and tricks, such as the “Secret Sprint Boost”. Not every FIFA player embraces these innovations.
If both players utilize the new tricks and mechanics and the opponents do not know how to handle them, you will have a huge competitive advantage.
4. Make sure to practice your offensive play together
Not every FIFA player has the same playstyle. Some players dribble their way to the goal, others play from the sides using crosses, and some rely on quick passing or ball possession. The problem is: If your co-op partner plays a very different style than you, it can lead to significant problems in offensive play.
Therefore, make sure to practice together and find out which style suits both of you. FUT Co-op friendly matches are a great option, as you won’t waste any of your 30 Division Rivals games.
Have you tried FUT Co-op yet? Or do you prefer playing solo and are already competing in the Weekend League?
