The release of FIFA 21 is approaching rapidly. We have examined the Champions Edition and will tell you for whom it is worthwhile and whether you should pre-order it.
How to play FIFA 21 earlier: If you can’t wait any longer and want to secure an advantage over other Ultimate Team players, you want to start FIFA 21 as soon as possible.
First, this works with EA Play: The paid membership gives you the opportunity to try out FIFA 21 eight days before release. The catch: The total gameplay time before release is limited to ten hours.
You can only start without a time limit if you are a member of EA Play Pro. However, this version is only available on PC and is therefore of little interest to console players.
With these editions, you get early access to FIFA 21: Unrestricted early access to FIFA 21 can be obtained with the two special versions: the FIFA 21 Champions Edition or the FIFA 21 Ultimate Edition.
Both versions are slightly more expensive than the standard version but allow you to start earlier in the new FIFA season. On October 6, which is 3 days before the release of FIFA 21, you can start with the special editions.
But is the extra cost worth it? We take a look at the Champions Edition and reveal what’s included and for whom it is worthwhile.

What advantages does the FIFA 21 Champions Edition bring?
What does the extra cost bring? Compared to the standard version of FIFA 21, the Champions Edition is 25 euros more expensive. But what advantages does it offer? And for whom is this surcharge really worth it?
And how does it compare with the Ultimate Edition, which is the most expensive? In terms of gameplay and new features, all editions are identical.
This is the main argument for the special versions
This is what players want the most: The main reason for purchasing the Champions Edition is likely the early access. With the early access, you can start three days earlier and even build an Ultimate Team while other players are still waiting for the official release.
This early access is also offered by the Ultimate Edition, which, however, costs another 10 euros more.
These bonuses are available in Ultimate Team
Both special editions offer: Both special editions provide identical FUT bonuses: Kylian Mbappe as a loan player for 5 matches and a FUT Ambassador as a loan player for 3 matches. Additionally, there are special kits and stadium items.
The only difference between the Ultimate and the cheaper Champions Edition lies in the number of Rare Gold Packs received:
- FIFA 21 Champions Edition: 12 Rare Gold Packs
- FIFA 21 Ultimate Edition: 24 Rare Gold Packs
Otherwise, both editions are identical in content. The OTW player that the Ultimate Edition had available for pre-orders until August 14 is no longer available.
Should I buy the Champions Edition or not?
Get the Champions Edition if you…
- absolutely want to start on October 6.
- are planning to invest real money in FIFA Points in packs anyway.
- want the advantage of the extra packs. However, please note that you will not receive all packs at once.
- are willing to spend 25 euros more for these benefits.
Only get the Ultimate Edition if you…
- want to start on October 6.
- absolutely want the 12 extra packs that only this version offers.
Instead, get the Standard Edition if you…
- don’t necessarily have to start earlier in FIFA 21.
- have no interest in FUT.
- don’t want an exclusively digital version of the game.
What about you? Do you value the benefits in FUT and an early start in FIFA 21? Which version of FIFA 21 will you choose?
