In FIFA 21 the brand new “What If” event has started. We will show you what the new promo has to offer.
When did the event start? The new FUT promo started today, on February 26th, at 7:00 PM.
What kind of event is this? The new What-If event features fresh, dynamic FUT cards that can receive a one-time +2 upgrade if certain What-If scenarios are fulfilled in real football.
The scenarios look like this:
- Forwards and midfielders receive an upgrade if their respective club scores at least 6 goals in the next 5 league matches.
- Defenders and goalkeepers receive an upgrade if their respective club keeps a clean sheet at least once in the next 5 league matches.
The new What-If cards from Team 1
These players are included: The first What-If team features really strong cards. Among them are Kanté (91), Sancho (90), Jovic (87), and Mbabu (85).

Additionally, two more What-If cards are coming into play with Caputo (87) and Raphinha (88). You can unlock Caputo through season objectives, and Raphinha is available as a Squad Building Challenge (SBC).

What about the Winter Refresh?
When could the Winter Refresh start? After the release of the Icon Moments cards and Icon Swaps 2 last Friday, the FUT community firmly expected a release of the Winter Refresh Event this week.
However, there is still no new information regarding the winter upgrade event. We are curious to see if the Winter Refresh will take place next week. It is also possible that the Winter Refresh and What If will occur together.
What exactly is Winter Refresh? Midway through the season, FUT cards typically receive upgrades through the Winter Refresh. If players have shown particularly good performances in real football during the first half of the season, they receive better cards through the Winter Refresh. Additionally, the Winter Refresh in FIFA 20 introduced a Winter Refresh team with further improved special cards.
