What kind of voting is this? The 12th man is basically the addition to the Team of the Year: After the first eleven is already known and the defenders are currently live, there will be another Team-of-the-Year card that didn’t make it in the first vote.
The following 3 players are up for voting:
- Lionel Messi
- Thiago
- Heung-min Son
This is how the voting works: Unlike the first vote, you don’t have to visit a website; instead, you can simply vote in the game. When you log in, three loan players will be suggested to you – one card per candidate. The card you choose is also your vote.
This way, you can easily choose your 12th man in the TOTY. However, one candidate that many expected is missing.
Where is Neymar?
This is why the selection is surprising: Just the fact that Neymar was not included in the main eleven of the Team of the Year already surprised many players. Instead, the attack was made up of Lewandowski, Mbappé, and Cristiano Ronaldo – which is also strong competition, with even Lionel Messi missing. However, the Argentine is now up for voting as the 12th man.
Since Neymar also missed out on the main eleven, many assumed that he would secure the 12th man. In the past, the 12th man has been determined through a loan player vote, which is why cards that are relevant in the meta have an advantage. In this case, Neymar would have been a very strong candidate for a victory, as he has one of the best cards in the game.
Instead, the Brazilian is completely missing from the selection and will not receive a TOTY card anymore.
What does the voting benefit you? With the vote, you can secure a loan player for your team. Although he only has a contract for a single game, this does not expire in friendly matches. This means that if you choose Messi, Son, or Thiago, you can use the player in modes like “Manager Masterpiece” or other friendly matches that are relevant to weekly objectives without limit.
