When does the TOTS start in FIFA 21? The release date of the Team of the Season event in FIFA 21 Ultimate Team is April 23, 2021 at 7:00 PM. The event was announced through several loading screens – the current one looks like this:
At this point, the first of several Teams of the Season is likely to be released.
These teams are coming today for the TOTS start
Which teams are involved today? At the event start, not all Teams of the Season will be available at once, instead, the TOTS promo will span several weeks. An earlier loading screen confirmed that the following teams will kick off:
- The EFL Championship TOTS
- The Community TOTS
So the first team consists of the best players from the second English league, and the second one consists of a community vote.
So these are not the teams from the top leagues, but you don’t need to worry about the stats. Even in the last years, cards from the “smaller” leagues received extremely good updates. Both teams will come with 15 cards each in the packs – that’s a bit less than in previous years.
This is how the Community TOTS voting works: For the Community TOTS, players who have received at most one special card in FIFA 21 are eligible. Who ends up in the TOTS is decided by the FIFA community. You can find everything about the TOTS Community Voting in FIFA 21 here.
Team of the Season – One of the most important events in FIFA 21
What is the TOTS actually? The “Team of the Season” is an event that traditionally spans several weeks. Every week, one or more “Teams of the Season” are released, whose special cards are then available in packs.
These cards are among the best in the game and have stats that usually far exceed their standard cards. Logically, they are special cards for the players who achieved the best performances over the past season.
These Teams of the Season will then be released successively by leagues. For example, there will be a Bundesliga TOTS, a Premier League TOTS, and so on. The current loading screen already contains hints of:
- Premier League TOTS
- Liga NOS TOTS
- CSL TOTS
- La Liga TOTS
- MLS TOTS
- Rest of the World TOTS
- Ultimate TOTS
It is to be expected that this list will expand with upcoming loading screens. After all, leagues like Serie A, Bundesliga, and more are still missing here. We will keep you updated on this.
Why is the event so exciting? The TOTS event had a special feature in previous editions compared to other events. The cards from the respective week replaced the TOTW cards in Player Picks. Thus, you can usually obtain one or the other card directly through the Weekend League rewards and thus have the chance to secure some of the best cards in the game for your Ultimate Team. This year, too, the TOTS cards will replace the TOTW cards again in packs and will also be available as Player Picks.
Especially now, when the special cards from past events have become more extreme, this is a welcome change, should it be implemented again this year. Because the TOTW can only keep up to a limited extent at this point.
