The new Title Update 8 for FIFA 21 is just around the corner. The update will bring several changes and is now also available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
Update, January 19, 09:30 AM: The new Title Update will also be available “soon” on consoles. Therefore, it is expected that the current version of the game will soon be available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. The patch notes also state that the changes from Title Update 7, which was previously missing on consoles, will now be included.
When will Title Update 8 be released? The new update has been available since January 12 for the PC version via Steam and Origin.
These changes are included in the update: The update will address issues from various areas. This mainly affects Ultimate Team, but other modes will also be addressed. We will show you the most important changes here.
Changes in Ultimate Team
The first and perhaps most anticipated change is that in online matches, you will only see the ball you have selected yourself and not the opponent’s model. There have often been complaints in the past, as opponents sometimes used balls that you might find harder to see. This problem should thus be resolved.
Additionally, there will be minor changes to the Coop Squad Battles. These can now be paused by both players, and there is no longer a limit for interruptions.
Alongside these changes, the update delivers several bug fixes in FUT, such as incorrect displays or repeating commentary in the game. You can find all changes in the patch notes (via EA Sports Forums).
Changes to Gameplay
Some changes will be made to gameplay that will affect all modes. The first concerns the two skills Overstep and Reverse Overstep. The Overstep is a simple yet effective and therefore very popular trick that many players use. Record player Anders Vejrgang for example, used the Overstep over and over.
However, this trick is now weakened: chaining Overstep will make them less effective compared to before. Additionally, the animation of the tricks has been slowed down and the small speed boost players received from it while moving forward has been reduced.
In addition to the tricks, the team pressing, which you activate via the D-pad, will also be adjusted. The active time for the tactic will be reduced from 20 to 15 seconds. Pressing will also require a two-second run-up to become active once you select it. Furthermore, it will no longer activate automatically again when the defending team gains the ball and then loses it again. This will also weaken a frequently used technique at least.
There will also be further bug fixes here. For instance, the referee logic has been further improved.
Changes in Career, Volta, and Pro Clubs
In the remaining modes, there are only minor adjustments.
- In Career, the quality of youth players should be more adapted to the region they come from. Previously, the player ratings of players over 30 were sometimes unrealistically high.
- In Volta, some hairstyles were not displayed correctly.
- In Pro Clubs, the adjusted shoe color was not always saved correctly.
Alongside all these changes, 34 new player faces will also be added to the game, and 29 more will be adjusted. Additionally, several emblems, jerseys, and stadiums have been updated.
